A recent take-over of a Galaxy System installed by a large national security company revealed numerous issues.

A Switchable Fused Spur, Zones programmed OFF, Loudspeaker disconnected, to name but a few of the problems we found at this location.

One of the other issues was ‘AC Induction’ onto the Alarm cables. It’s clear from the images here that the Alarm Cables have been run alongside High Voltage ⚡️ cables.

Obviously we cannot now spend time re-running cables throughout the large building, so we fitted a ‘Mains Spike Clamp’ often referred to as a ‘Suppressor’. This little gizmo which we have used in all of our new installations for over 25 Years effectively filters out floating AC Voltages induced onto Alarm Cables, a common cause of persistent and unwanted False Alarms.

Hopefully our recent interventions on this site will enable this Client to suffer less problems and lower call-out costs.

Recently we were asked to review & take-over an Intruder Alarm System on a very large Office Complex in Northamptonshire.

Our new Client wasn’t happy with the service that they were receiving from their large National Provider.

As is often the case; upon inspection we found many issues with this system, our new Client being unaware of these extensive problems.

For example, we found that the Back-Up-Battery was running low and not capable of providing enough power for the system in the event of a Power Failure. Furthermore, this had to be replaced with a larger Battery with more capacity as the existing sized battery wasn’t capable of providing enough stand-by power to meet regulations.

We also found that the Mains-Power-Supply was provided by a Switchable Fused Spur. This should be Unswitched so that the system cannot be inadvertently disconnected from the 240V Mains Supply.

The Internal Sounder had been previously disconnected and the bare wire left floating around exposed inside the Control Panel.

The external Souner (see image) didn’t really provide much of a deterrent as this Company has now closed and been taken-over. It was also suffering from fading and plastic fatigue.

Despite being tested recently by the National Supplier, (who endorsed that everything was working fine), we found a Zone/ Circuit programmed OFF, therefore providing no detection coverage in a large ground-floor Office. Not much use in the event of a burglary!

We could go on and on here, but the moral of the story is instead of just signing off large invoices from your National Security Provider, maybe it’s time for a Spring Clean 🧽 to review exactly what you’ve got.

A recent bespoke installation undertaken by Nova Security Protection.

We were recently commissioned to protect a very old but well-known popular Gastro Pub in Northamptonshire.

The brief was to remove not one, but two previous “Fire Alarm Systems” and install a comprehensive Fire Alarm throughout the building; with minimal fuss and upheaval, also whilst working around the needs of the Clients very busy establishment.

We successfully removed an old Fire Alarm from the 1980’s and also a subsequent Visonic Burglar Alarm previously mis-sold and being used as a “Fire Alarm”.

The building is now covered with Smoke/ Heat Detection, Call-Points & Sounders with illuminous signage where needed. Bespoke Fire Plans are also located at strategic points and being manufactured from aluminium provide for easy wipe down & Fire repelling properties.

The system is also connected directly to our Clients Smartphones for immediate notification of any Events emanating from the system, thus giving our Client control of their safety operational needs.

With Fire Regulations in commercial buildings changing and set to become more rigid, now is a good time to review your level of Electronic Fire Protection.
