🔒 Jail and Bail Fundraiser 🔒
Kind-hearted colleagues at Laurel Bank Care Home in Lancaster are gearing up for their Jail and Bail fundraiser tomorrow, 30th October, to support St John's Hospice - a wonderful local charity close to their hearts.
Although the event hasn’t started yet, the dedicated team has already raised the £999 bail needed to release their General Manager, Lyndsay Scott, from her “cell” at Lancaster Castle.
Residents and staff at Laurel Bank are incredibly grateful for the support, which will help St John’s Hospice provide 11 home visits, 5 palliative night-sitting sessions or 50 hours of nursing care on their wards.
Ahead of the event, Lyndsay Scott shared, “I am so proud of my brilliant team, they always go above and beyond and they have the kindest hearts. Collectively we have raised over £2,000 for St John’s Hospice this year, a really fantastic amount and we’re very much hoping to get to £3,000 with our latest endeavour! I can’t say I’m particularly looking forward to spending time in a prison cell but it is all for a very good cause so it will be worth it.”

Richard spent time with residents and members of the team and they were also joined by Cllr Nigel Emery, Chairman of Horsham District Council, local Veterans from The Crawley & Horsham Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Clubs and representatives from The Horsham Royal British Legion who also launched their annual Poppy Appeal on the same day.
Richard also gave a talk, sharing updates on developments since the 1982 conflict, including economic activities like tourism and agriculture, environmental conservation efforts, healthcare, education, and key internal policies and legislation. It was noted that the UK Government retains responsibility for foreign affairs and defence and maintains a military presence on the islands.

Such a wonderful night last night at Ray's Film "Premier". He rocked the red carpet and looked the business. Joined by 3 generations of his family, copious amounts of friends, residents, staff and local community it was a night to remember.
The screening was amazing and not a dry eye in the house. This amazing man served 40 mission's, the average being 30 missions with only a 2 week survival rate so Ray is one lucky gentleman.
After the film Ray was open to questions and answers while the tea and coffee flowed the snacks was eaten.
Thank you to all who attended we are glad you had a nice evening.
