Raising a glass tonight 🍷 as we made it to the end of another RECORD BREAKING term at Jolly Gym. 🤩

It’s an absolute privilege to have so many WONDERFUL Jolly families keeping us on our toes. The whole team have worked so hard to run more brilliant classes than ever before and I can’t thank them enough for what they do. They give everything 🥰 but I think I speak for us all when I say it’s never a struggle. We have fun every single day and are lucky to get to be a small part in the lives of your special little people!

🌟Super straddle squad! 🌟

Ok… so when we set our Jolly Gymnasts this challenge, we admit we thought it was probably a bit too tricky, but it would build strength and be fun so it was worth the try.

How wrong were we?! 🤩 They absolutely blew these ‘straddle levers’ out of the park and lifted themselves off the floor for a few seconds, first with their heels down… and then those came off too! 👏

We’re mighty impressed! (They’re just mighty!) 💪

Boy, do you keep us busy nowadays… but we wouldn’t have it any other way! 😊

Today we’ve celebrated a 2nd and a 5th birthday party in the gym 🥳 and we’ve had some wonderful private classes with families who are able to enjoy their gymnastics a little more when it’s quieter. 🫶

We have seen so many smiley faces and received SO many lovely words from you all 🥰 It’s definitely worth giving up a Sunday to see the joy as you play together and learn together.

Now it’s time to switch off for a couple of hours before we spring and swing into our last week of Winter Term! Will we see you?! ❄️

As your little one hits milestones and completes new awards, they can be awarded medals🏅 and certificates to commemorate their achievement and we present these in class 3 times a year…

The next Award Presentation week will be before half term in February.

It’s been hand apparatus week in our school-aged classes at Avian Dance Studios, like in our school programmes, and you can imagine the chaos… hoops, balls and ropes flying everywhere! 😆 We absolutely love it!

It’s totally worth it to see how excited the children get and how much fun it adds to the foundation gymnastics skills they’re learning. 😍

Rolling a ball to a friend in a beautiful straddle sit with pointy toes ✔️

Throwing and catching a ball in a dish shape ✔️ (building core strength without even knowing it!)

Balancing on one leg whilst using hand apparatus to add a little challenge - your hands might be moving but your body needs to stay statue still! ✔️

Exploring patterns with a rope, looping it side to side and making figures of 8️⃣♾️ ✔️

All whilst ticking off skills for our next Discover Award too!

Building more than just towers in our Jolly Tots Stage 1 classes….

The friendships and bonds that are forming are just ❤️!

Hand apparatus week in our school clubs is a favourite theme of ours for so many reasons….

❤️ The teamwork! Throwing and catching, spinning a hoop are always more fun with a friend, and these little ones worked brilliantly together. 🫶

🧡 The chance to put into practice some of the skills we’ve learnt in class this term; skipping whilst travelling alongside a hoop, balancing on one leg whilst throwing a ball, spinning a hoop then performing a shaped jump before catching it. 👏

💛 The sense of achievement! Your little ones BEAM 😀 with pride when they finally catch it or crack the skill. We heard so many ‘I DID IT’s!

Stickers all around for these little ones this week for trying very hard. Well done!

So the question is…. To Elf or not to Elf in your house?!

Avian Dance Studios, will your elves be making an appearance again in Reception?

The coaches have Elves at home 🏡 for our own little ones, but rest assured there are no Elves at in the gym. 🙅🏻‍♂️

This little one’s Buddy snuck into class today, he didn’t want to miss out… and we can’t blame him really. After all, it is the season to be Jolly! 🎄

You may have seen British Gymnastics campaign - letting people know that it’s not just OK to ask a question, ask for help, or raise a concern… but that it’s encouraged 🥰 No matter how you are involved in gymnastics, it’s important that you feel you can say something if you see something that doesn’t feel right in our sport. 🗣️

So, we thought it was a good time to remind you who to contact if you would like to raise a concern about *anything* you experience at Jolly Gymnastics…

‼️ If you believe a child is in immediate danger, you should contact the police straight away.

🔴 Speak to our Club Welfare Officer, Gemma, on [email protected] and she’ll be more than happy to arrange a return call.

🟥 Or raise a concern with British Gymnastics at [email protected].

British Gymnastics have also pledged to update policies 📑 the first of which were released this week. We’ve updated our policies too - they’re now even clearer that Jolly Gymnasts should be able to access a drink or toilet break whenever they need, although of course this is in line with how we already do things.

👋 Hello Handstands! 👋

Check out 👀 this Jolly Gymnast’s kick towards handstand as part of last term’s after-school handstand circuit. A whole class of preps and progressions to turn that frown upside down 🙃 and it paid off!!

This week’s theme in our school-based clubs is CARTWHEELS and we cannot wait to get started!!

We just love 😍 to see little ones taking calculated risks and exploring climbing or balancing safely, with lots of matting.

Vault and rebound week in our after-school programme is always a bouncy brilliant one, but these Jolly Gymnasts took it to the next level! 💪

They’re coming on ‘leaps and bounds’!

Last weekend, I was out walking 🥾🌳 and I bumped into a Jolly family who graduated from our classes and have gone on to train many more hours at the Sportspark UEA. Mum gave me a big hug and said they all still talk about Jolly Gymnastics, and she showed me videos of her little superstar absolutely smashing it 🤩 in her new Tumbling squad.

Today, at the Dinosaur Park 🦕 with my own little one, I bumped into another Jolly family whose little one is still crazy in love with gymnastics at North Walsham Gymnastics Club ❤️ She was so excited to tell me about the new skills she’s learnt and the competitions she is entering!

There’s nothing we love more than to hear that your little ones are still involved in our sport and to know we played a little part in giving them the ‘gymnastics bug.’ 😍

We’re PROUD 🥲 to be the place where you experience your gymnastics ‘first’s and where you discover your passion, having had the very best start in the best sport in the world 🌍

We remember all of the gymnasts who pass through our classes so fondly 🥰 and they’ll always be part of the Jolly Family!

There are some moments in class that absolutely melt our hearts ❤️‍🩹

These little ones working together was definitely one of them 🫶 They tried SO hard at their turns and balances on the bench but (obviously) the moment I got the camera out, they got full of the giggles and this happened. 😆

It is a delight spending a working day in the company of so many wonderful Jolly Gymnasts. Exhausting 😅 but so rewarding - bet you can’t find a job where you smile more!

🤸🏻‍♀️ Flexible Friday! 🤸🏻‍♀️

Flexibility is (obviously!) a big part of gymnastics… everyone asks if you’re bendy when you tell them you’re a gymnast. So, how do we approach flexibility at Jolly Gymnastics? 🤷🏻‍♀️👇🏼

➖ We don’t teach or encourage any traditional flexibility training in under 5s. At this age, we believe it’s all about exploring different movement patterns, developing balance, coordination and CONFIDENCE. We want build strength to support growing bones and joints, rather than stretching them. 👌

➖ We introduce typical ‘flexibility’ stretches like splits and bridges *gradually* in school-aged children, only when it’s developmentally appropriate and with small steps to help them to keep safe. Think ‘baby bridge’ 👶🏻 as a first step or straddle stretches way before full box splits!

➖ Jolly Coaches will NEVER manually push a gymnast to encourage greater flexibility. Instead, we encourage gymnasts to listen to their own bodies and challenge themselves. 💪

High 5s to kick off the week! 🖐️

In our independent classes where gymnasts don't have a parent assisting them, we usually work in small teams of 2-3 gymnasts, sharing an equipment 'station'. We ask our Jolly Gymnasts to wait for their friend to High 5 them before they have their turn… it’s not just for safety 👷‍♀️(though it does help ensure only one person goes at a time!), it also encourages a little social interaction 👯‍♀️ and contact which we all missed so much during Covid-times!

When Jolly Gymnasts put in super effort or achieve something new, you might also see us give a High Five 🖐️ and we finish every class on a 'high' with a big High Ten 🙌🏻

This little one ⬇️ is one of our oldest Jolly gymnasts. She’s been with us since our very first class and she is INCREDIBLY caring. We gave her a sticker 🌟 for the way she always works hard and gives her all, but makes time to look out for the little ones in her class too. She’s a real role model!

We’re so proud of our Jolly family. The way they support each other makes us VERY happy. Even happier than these brilliant straight legs and pointy toes 🩰, and that’s saying something! 😊
