A friendly group who come together to provide a relaxing and fun morning for those with dementia There are always plenty of volunteers on hand to help out.
Sprowston Dementia Friendly Community is a local initiative working with Broadland Dementia Action Alliance. We are a group of local people with a passion for Sprowston and an interest in Dementia. Our aim is to raise awareness of dementia, and to allow people living with dementia or memory problems within our community to feel safe, supported and valued. Staff who work in Older People’s Medicine have begun fundraising for the N&N Hospitals Charity appeal to convert a courtyard between two wards into a garden for patients, carers and visitors.

On Saturday May 11th I shall be walking at Whittlingham with this lovely group of people raising money for the Alzheimers Society and Dementia UK. All of them have been affected by dementia in some way. Anybody is welcome to join us.

The Museum of the Broads at Stalham would like to offer free entry to people with dementia and their carers on Tuesday 11th June – it is a great place to come along, have a picnic by the waterside, have a look around the museum and if they wanted to, they could take a 50 minute trip on the water (£9) a person. Marsh Harrier, our electric boat, has wheelchair accessibility for those with mobility issues. Please see photo for more details.
For our Febuary Cafe we had a visit from Tammi of Central Co-op Norwich which is on Chartwell Road, next to the fire station.
She came to made fresh fruit kebabs, play picture bingo and to tell us all about the origins of the Co-operative movement from it's orgins in Rochdale in 1844.
The Mousehold View Care Home on Mousehold Lane supplied us with some lovely cakes too! They were delicious.
This month we were visited by some members of Yare Folk who serenaded us with beautiful folk music on traditional instruments. No dancing this month but lots of toe tapping and clapping in time to the music.
We had such a wonderful time at our Christmas party in December 2023. It really made our year with so many happy and generous people. Thanks to all who attended, contributed or helped in any way.

Theatre Cares – A Life in Music | Norwich Theatre Theatre Cares brings together individuals with mild to moderate dementia and their carers/partners for engaging and participatory music workshops that spark joy, curiosity and new friendships!

We wanted to bring to your attention a new community music group for those living with dementia, starting tomorrow in Norwich.
In Time Together is a welcoming and inclusive group where participants are supported to sing familiar songs, try a range of instruments or just soak up the atmosphere. Followed by a cup a tea!
Musical Keys have been working in dozens of residential care homes across Norfolk for many years and we're delighted to be able to launch a version of this work based in - and for - the community.
The group will meet on the first Friday of the month from 10:30 - 11:15, followed by refreshments. The group takes place at Martineau Hall, 21 Colegate, NR3 1BN. The venue is warm and welcoming, and fully accessible.
