God's imagination and His creativity is far beyond our understanding. And by His love has shared this beauty with us.
Remembering the sunny days at the local fayres; the sleeveless tops and hours outside.
Look at that! Such bright sunshine! Sandwiched in between two very cold and rainy days. It was surprisingly hot; considering that summer is past and autumn is definitely here. So Lexi had a long afternoon walk while I basked in the warmth and enjoyed taking photographs of the last of the flowers, all bathed in light. PS The only way I could ever be tall!
Are you seeing autumn colours in your part of the world? Lots of bright berries and fruit and leaves here now.
Awww ... I am already missing those hot sunny summer days and the fun that we had at Earlham Park in and around the stream. What special family times and the children loved it. We all did. No cozzies for us now! (And if you don't know - that's a South Africanism for a swimming costume and just one of the local words I used in A Gift of God, my novel which is set in Durban, South Africa.)
Have you seen these giant thistles? This was a first for me and I was amazed at their size. A bright purple head with the usual filaments and tough wide leaves below. So many different varieties of thistles and some are endemic to the UK. And some are apparently edible? Have you ever eaten any??
Another happy outing with the grandies, watching them climbing and jumping and sliding and having fun. Lots of soft play areas here in England - much more so than in South Africa - but that's no surprise as we have much colder weather here!
Have you visited Norwich, Norfolk? What are your impressions of the city? No matter how many times I visit, I always find another building, another feature, another angle to photograph. This set of pics shows some of the old - plus some of the new and well-known shops.
This is the full extent of my current garden. Two lonely pot plants. But in my last garden in South Africa I had a beautiful big Tibouchina tree, bright orange aloes which flourished in winter in the dry soil, pretty pink tree orchids, a deep pink bogainvillea, red dahlias, and ... so many other plants. I miss gardening. And I miss being able to garden all year round.
It's the first of October and there is no doubt at all that we are now in the autumn season. Not only are the leaves turning orange and red but the air is CHILLY. Or, as us South Africans like to say: It's FREEZING COLD!
The Japanese anemones are blooming now - but these pics weren't taken in the UK. No, they were taken about 15 years ago - in my garden in Hillcrest, South Africa. And such happy memories. I loved my home. And my garden. It was well developed when I bought it and I spent many blessed hours gardening in it. Plus, my mother lived right next door - so these photos bring back special memories for many reasons.

The beautiful Eaton Park in Norwich, Norfolk.
Glorious sunshine! Blue skies and bright days! What a pleasure to have so much warmth so late in September. Especially as we had a very late start to summer - chilly days all through April, May, June. So I have been enjoying being outside as much as possible, knowing that every warm day may be the last. And ... and I think that this was the last one. I took this pic yesterday ... and today is dark and rainy. So ... finally time to swap my summer and winter clothes??
Exciting news!! I'm CELEBRATING my one-year BOOK BIRTHDAY with a paperback GIVE-AWAY.

Did you know that some flowers are photogenic? Yip. And I think that these St John's Wort flowers definitely qualify for my number one award. That bright yellow against the deep green of the leaves; plus those pretty open faces, masses of stamens and plenty of buds. I like 'em.
And it's apple season! Autumn is on its way! So many apples trees here in Norfolk and so many apples left on the tree; because they're in individual gardens and on farmlands and not being eaten by the owners; and because so many of them are crab apples, like these ones, and are edible but sour and must be cooked with lots of sugar. This is my daughter's apple tree in her front garden - but we don't have the time to make puddings or jams!
Sweetpeas and snapdragons and a sweet little doggie.
Look at that ripe, shiny, delicious fruit! I love seeing the pretty pink flowers and then these blackberries, and most of all, picking a few to enjoy as I'm on my walks. They grow wild all over the countryside.
Late summer bloomers, but what beautiful blooms.
Do you have garden allotments in your part of the world? This is the term used in England for a small parcel of land, usually a strip, which is set apart from the home of the gardener. It is for personal, not commercial, use, for growing mainly vegies and fruit but there are also some pretty flowers in this community garden I passed. Obviously it's come about because of the British row houses, with narrow homes and often tiny gardens and they must be very popular because there are waiting lists in some areas!
What beautiful scenery on a drive through the countryside on a warm sunny day. We're surrounded by farms and fields and farm houses; crops and tractors and pigs. It's a really lovely place to live.
'Then God said, "Let the land sprout with vegetation - every sort of seed-bearing plant, and tress that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kind of plants and trees from which they came." And that is what happened. And God saw that it was good. Genesis 11, 12b NLT And these flowers are definitely 'good' and striking.
