Making Sense of the Gazan Crisis

Abstract

What is regarded as intractable, age-old, Israeli-Palestinian mutual antipathy turns out to be of very recent origin indeed. This paper examines that origin against the backdrop of the much longer history of good will shown to the Jewish people in Palestine and across the umma by Muslims over almost a millennium and a half. Investigating the origin of the conflict means necessarily to explore great power dynamics, and also the operations of finance, most particularly fiat currency.

Taking its cue from the subtitle of Ian Dallas's The Time of the Bedouin, The Politics of Power is a tour de force by Uthman Ibrahim-Morrison studying the modern state and its birth in the French Revolution, and thus studying modernity itself.

A key part of our history that needs to be reclaimed is that of Bani Umayya, the Umayyads, who have been buried under the propaganda of Bani al-Abbas, the Abbasids, who mounted a coup against them. They are the link to the Khulafa ar-Rashidun. The lecture is the work of Aisha Bewley, one of the leading experts on the period and herself the author of a work on Sayyiduna Mu'awiya, may Allah be pleased with him. It is here presented by Dr. Tobias Sahl Andersson. Part 1 covers from Mu'awiya to 'Abdalmalik ibn Marwan.
