Dave Forbes Massage Therapist
Hi & welcome to DFSMT. We have recently moved to Horsham St Faith & are now taking on new Clients.
I'd like to introduce you all to our new member of staff.
Please say hello to Monty our 8 week old cocker spaniel
Monty will be overseeing the wellbeing side of things once he has completed his training🥰
FOR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION.
Due to some unannounced roadworks appearing outside our property this morning, Waterloo road will be closed from the Spixworth Road end. Therefore if you are attending for treatment this week (8/4/24), may i ask you to enter from the Black Swan public house end, turning right into waterloo road where you can gain access to us.
Apologies for any inconvenience, but unfortunately i knew nothing about the roadworks until they started.
No 1st appointments available until w/c 8th April I'm afraid & limited slots free for 1 hour appointments.
But please do contact me if you've had your assessment done & we'll see what we can do.
Thank you everyone ☺️
I've had the privilege to treat some wonderful people over the last few years & it's great to receive lovely reviews of how I've helped them.

People attend for all sorts of injuries, aches & pains. My job is to find the cause of your symptoms not to treat the symptoms.
All great stretches to keep you loose & less prone to injury🙂
Just 1 upcoming appointment available at the moment & that's Thursday 28th March @ 8am.
This is for existing clients only as it's a 1 hour slot.
Due to ever increasing costs with my appointment software company, I've had to adjust when you receive text messages & emails.
You currently receive a confirmation email & text message at the time of booking & an upcoming reminder email & text message 48hrs before your appointment.
With immediate effect you will now only receive an email to confirm your booking, but you will still receive an email & text reminder 48hrs before your appointment, but this is likely to change in the near future as the costs will unfortunately outweigh the benefits.
May i ask you to update your email client to allow these emails to land into your inbox & not your spam folder, as this will become the only reminders you will receive in the future.
Apologies for any inconvenience this causes & I thank you your understanding.
Dave

I've been treating several clients who are wanting to return to running of late & I'd just like to say that
massage can play an important role in the process of injury rehabilitation.
Massage encourages fresh oxygenated blood to the site of the injury, using different techniques, formed scar tissue needs to be broken down, which in turn will encourage movement and relax muscles. Massage helps to deliver nutrients to soft tissues and organs. An increase of vital nutrients into the tissues accelerates the healing rate of injured areas. Massage can help a range of injuries including sprains, strains, broken bones, post op procedures and muscle tears. Using a variety of massage techniques, massage can release tension and loosen scar tissue. Using massage as part of injury rehabilitation can increase the healing rate, stimulate the Lymphatic drainage and shorten recovery time.
If you've been suffering with a recent injury that's stopped you from enjoying your chosen sport, consider giving sports massage a go, I don't think you'll regret it🙂🙂
To help both new & existing clients, I'm going to add a weekly post of what appointments I have available for the upcoming week. I'll post It on a Friday & It will be for new bookings only.
Pain is a request for change in the body. You can heed that request, ignore it, or even chemically block it, but the change is still needed regardless & you may end up paying a steep price if you ignore it for too long.
If your engine light has come on please don't hesitate to contact me for a reset.
We are now closed for the festive period until the 3rd of January.
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas, to those that are working, looking after others, take care out there & I hope you get to enjoy a prosperous new year.
I look forward to seeing you all in 2024🎉🎉
Thank you once again for your custom, which allows me to fulfil my passion in hopefully helping you♥️♥️
Wishing all my customers both old & new a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.
I hope to see you all again in 2024.

Overpronation of Foot: Mechanism of Injury, Diagnosis, Treatment- Gait Analysis, Orthotics
Overpronation is a condition where there is excessive pronation of foot or where there is flattening or inward rolling of foot. Pronation occur when subtalar joint moves into eversion, which means the sole turns outwards, dorsiflexion which means toes pointing upwards, and abduction which means toes pointing to sides. While standing, there is pronation when the foot rolls in the inward direction and foot arch is flattened. Pronation is normal with gait cycle. It acts as a shock absorber. Supination is opposite of pronation. Supination is also normal with gait cycle and if done excessively then it is known as oversupination, which also causes problems.
Overpronation is a condition where there is excessive pronation and this leads to problems. It is actually quite common in athletes and leads to many injuries, especially in sprinters. Overpronation commonly results in overuse type of injuries. Runners are more frequently affected with this condition. During walking or running, a normal foot pronates and lower leg, knee, and thigh all rotate medially and if an athlete who has an overpronated foot starts running it results in excessive rotation movement. This excessive stress placed on the medial surface of foot due to overpronation causes injury and pain in foot and ankle. Repetitive rotational forces in shin, knee, and thigh causes added stress on muscles, tendons and ligaments of lower leg.
Treatment of Overpronation of Foot
▪️Getting a gait analysis done by podiatrists, physiotherapists or sports therapists of your running style helps in distinguishing between overpronation, oversupination and neutral gait.
▪️If you suffer from overpronation, then having extra support in shoes helps. Running shoes with a firm material on inside of midsole help in supporting inside of foot and prevent it from overpronating.
▪️In severe cases of overpronation, orthotic devices can be fitted. Most of the times patients can use the orthotic insoles that can be bought from the market but some patients may require custom made orthotic devices which can be prescribed by a sports injury therapist or a podiatrist.
Ring any bells????
Hello, just to let you all know that I will be closed from Thursday 5th October through to Thursday 19th October.
It's been a challenging time of late, but I was reminded by a lovely lady that I treated yesterday as to why I do what I do.
Here's the review that she kindly left me earlier today.
Thank you Ana.
Pain in the lower back is often caused by weak foot muscles. This then affects your gait which in turn affects the hips & so on.......
