How positive affirmations turned my negative self-talk into something more positive and productive...
A few years ago, I was introduced to this incredibly simple, yet potentially life-altering exercise. If you struggle with negative self-talk, follow these steps to improve the way you talk to, and feel about yourself.
1. Write down 3 self-limiting beliefs. They usually start with phrases like:
"I can't..."
"I'm not good at..."
"I never..."
2. Think about them - are they even true? How are they limiting you? How are they damaging how you feel about yourself and preventing you from living life with confidence?
3. Rewrite these sentences, focusing on the positives:
"I am getting better at..."
"I am ..."
"I have..."
4. Display your new beliefs/ affirmations in a place where you can read them daily. And when you find yourself thinking/saying the negative things, quickly replace the words with the positive affirmations.
***Even if you don't believe your new affirmations yet, the power of thought is incredible, and you will soon shift your mindset to think and see yourself in a more positive way.***
I use positive affirmations everyday to curb the negative talk and general worrying. Over the years my affirmations have evolved alongside me, and now when I look back on the ones I wrote ten years ago, I can't believe how far I have come.

One of the many photos that shows the highs of our weekend …. but the reality of holidaying with ND children has tested our limits this weekend. Negotiating the changes in settings and routines, the overstimulation of new sights, smells and crowds. We tried our best to remain patient and see things from their perspective but sometimes i couldn’t help but wish things were easier.
I hope this doesn’t sound too negative, I just wanted to mention the unseen side of the Insta life (which I’ve not documented through photos as I was too busy chasing, comforting and at times, swearing under my breath)…and I know this will mean something to other parents in a similar situation.

I’ve been practising gratitude daily for the last few weeks and it’s helped me to feel loads better.

The best, most important thing I’ve done to combat my anxiety, overwhelm and low moods is working on my energy.
By setting my alarm to wake up before the kids, I’ve created time for self-care in the morning. It’s allowed me to have time to sit quietly and listen to/work through my thoughts and feelings.
Yes, I know 5am seems way too early. We’re all tired and desperately need the extra mins in bed, but believe me, this time is GOLDEN.
But…If we have a bad night with the kids, I snooze the alarm and sleep on - and I don’t feel guilty for it! I’m not in the game to tell myself off anymore! 😊
