We loved working on this media room and the final results were well worth the effort! Put on a movie or spin up some tunes, the choice is yours… room
Thanks to Mike and the guys for showing us round yesterday. The facility is amazing, they've got a really welcoming team there and without a doubt the best dressed forklift driver I've come across. Well worth a visit!
Time for final calibrations and testing of this lovely little Media system.
We're big fans for the Anthem AV receivers and the proprietary room correction ARC. We combined the MRX540 with a Sonance soundbar, surround speakers and an in wall sub to give this media room some real wow at a reasonable price point. It looks stunning and sounds every bit as good as it looks!
We've really enjoyed working on this home gym project in Barnet and the end result is stunning. We provided TV, audio and WiFi, working closely with construction trades for the first fix. What a great space to work out.
In this weeks blog post we explore video distribution within a smart home setting. Modern IP systems offer flexibility and excellent quality but care must be taken in specifying the correct infrastructure.

Bass performance is one of the hardest areas to get right when designing an Audio Visual experience. Room modes, resonances and standing waves mean construction and positioning are key in obtaining a consistent and balanced performance across the listening area. Bass speakers can not be simply placed where most convenient, rather number of speakers and precise positioning must be carefully calculated depending on room dimensions and seating location.
At Sonic Vision our background is firmly routed in the audio industry and we can offer a depth of understanding in the acoustic field.
Weather and pandemic proof golf practice. provide the very best in golf simulation technology, we integrate it seamlessly into your home.

Quality audio can be highly rewarding, but at the same time can be the hardest thing to produce. It's not a simple case of buy good equipment and you'll get a good sound.
Reflections interact with direct sounds to produce an array of effects. Some good, some bad. Simply adding absorption to stop reflections doesn't work, as over treated spaces sound dull and lifeless.
Sonic Vision offer a considered acoustic design, integrating acoustic performance with room aesthetics and enabling you to get the very best from your investment in equipment.
Merry Christmas to all from Sonic Vision!
Here's to friends and family, may we be in a position to spend more time with them in 2021.
What level do you listen at?
A reference level home theatre should be calibrated to 85db at the seating area, with 20db dynamic headroom built into the system. This pitches dialogue at around 85db, with the headroom ensuring the louder parts are accurately reproduced without clipping or distortion.
For calibration purposes however, many listeners find this to be too loud, with average listening levels being around 10db below this. The result... if the only calibration profile available is reference level, the listener us experiencing less than optimal sound. This is due to a perceived balance shift between frequencies with a change in overall volume.
Aesthetic effect isn't the only reason to consider in wall speakers for your cinema or sim room, there are a number of possible benefits. Firstly, when the speaker face is sitting level with the wall, boundary interference is eliminated. On top of this, there are efficiency gains to be had. With the baffle step eradicated, bass output is increased and less amplifier power required to achieve the same sound pressure levels.
Though it is important to carefully consider the construction of walls, to avoid annoying resonances; and advisable to decouple speakers from them. This can be an excellent route to maximise the performance of your system.
Room configuration is another key area when designing a media experience. Occupants need to be kept comfortable for long periods of time, this requires quality seating and a climate regulation or HVAC solution that wont distract from the main event.
Seating should be kept away from walls helping to reduce the negative impact they have on sound. Its also important to remember, it is only really possible to create a well balanced, directional acoustic experience across a small area. For this reason we should try not to be too ambitious about the number of seats we want in our theatre.
If you're looking for an extra special sim experience, look no further than the formula series by . Built around a realistic cockpit or full formula style car, they take simulation to a whole new level. Vehicles can be wrapped in custom livery and wheels fit with Pirelli rubber, giving a realistic experience whether in or out of the car.
We can guide you through the process of customising your sim and design the ideal space for it to be enjoyed, PM us for more details.
Over the next couple of weeks we will be putting together a series of posts exploring how to maximise the impact of your home theatre or sim room. We begin today with understanding the space.
Before any design work begins, time should be taken to understand a number of factors affecting the room. The noise floor, or ambient sound levels should be measured and a detailed knowledge gained of where sounds are coming from and what frequency bands they sit within. This will be useful information in designing a solution that allows the full dynamic range to be appreciated.
Ideally the room should not have windows or other routes for ambient light to enter, however if this can't be avoided, an effective solution for managing light needs to form part of the final solution.
Bass management, or more accurately, providing a uniform bass response should always be a key concern from the outset. This will require a detailed understanding of the space both dimensionally and in terms of construction, as an effective solution must form part of the room design.
We are excited to be able to offer sim room solutions built around Vesaro's incredible range of motorsport simulators. As lifelong motorsport enthusiasts this was an area we were keen to be involved in.
The modular series can be built to your precise requirements, with a vast array of setup options. Utilising D-box motion actuation, direct drive steering feedback and configurable hydraulic pedal setups among many other options, these rigs are built bespoke and produce a high degree of realism. Couple that with a purpose built room and you have an experience that will blow you away.
We saved something extra special for the Sunday entry into our architectural speakers series, the L75. This is a speaker that has mesmerising levels of performance and offers real design flexibility.
For the free standing version, Wisdom can custom paint to match décor. If you prefer to keep floor space clear, in wall versions are available as well as an array of customisation options, allowing them to fit seamlessly into surroundings.
The standout feature of the L75's is Wisdoms Planar Magnetic Driver technology. This gives a super flat response across the frequency range and has an unearthly ability to deliver detail, something that really must be heard to be believed. The layout of PMD drivers gives true line source performance, offering much improved consistency across a space compared to the more common point source designs. This allows the 'sweet spot' to be extended, whilst reducing room interactions and reflections. The results are a real treat!
If you have any enquiries regarding Wisdom speakers, we're here and happy to help.
Our Architectural speaker series is continued with the invisible range. These speakers offer a surreal experience, with quality sound radiating into the room but no visual cues as to where it is coming from. Perfect for maintaining a clean, minimal appearance.
The speakers are integrated into the wall during the construction phase of a project, allowing them to be plastered over and painted, along with the rest of the wall or ceiling. This is a process that requires careful consideration and planning, but that's what we're here for!
Next up in our architectural speaker series is... well, not an architectural speaker as such. It is however an option well worth exploring in this context.
hand build a range of exquisite glass floor standing speakers, offering a truly luxury experience in both build and sound quality. Their appearance is clean and modern, but never imposing in any space. These beautifully designed speakers have the ability to work visually as a design piece whilst acoustically knocking your socks off!
Next in our architectural speaker series is the Sonance Architectural family of speakers. Offering a refreshing alternative to the standard dinner plate approach to ceiling speaker design, they provide a discrete way to bring quality audio into any living space.
The concept of evenly spreading compact mid/high frequency speakers throughout a space, and reinforcing with in ceiling bandpass subwoofers, allows a very even spread of sound. This in turn creates conditions where a well balanced and detailed sound can be enjoyed at lower volume levels throughout a large space, making conversation much easier.
This system does require careful planning from the outset with a holistic approach to lighting and audio design. The discrete opening system, ensures the ceiling surface is kept flat and speakers can blend seamlessly with surrounding recessed light fixtures.
A well planned audio installation shouldn't just provide a balanced sound, it needs to work aesthetically. The market has a number of excellent solutions available to allow high quality audio to blend seamlessly into any surroundings. Over the following week we will be exploring some of those options.
First up are the masters of form with function . These guys produce some amazing design pieces that look more like modern art than speakers. However, the high quality transducers concealed within allow them to fill their surroundings with sound to match their appearance. A true luxury product.
