Creative Writing: Improve your Fiction Writing - online

Starts Tuesday 17th January 09:15 - 11:15 for 10 sessions

£68.00 or free if on certain benefits

This course gives us the opportunity to share our own fiction writing for critique as well as to read and discuss the work of others in the group. We will be encouraged to form a supportive writing group to help others develop their fiction writing alongside our own. Methods of providing (and receiving) positive and supportive feedback will be discussed.

During the fiction writing exercise sessions, we will choose subjects (such as POV, showing/telling, narrative styles and plot) to develop areas of interest to class members.

The 7 ages of man: Poetry from the cradle to the grave

Starting Thursday 26th January - an online course

09:15 - 11:15 for 7 sessions £47.60 or free if on certain benefits.

The famous speech from 'As You Like It' ('All the world's a stage') is our starting point for a study of poems on human life from cradle to grave, and from medieval times to the present day. Students will be given the opportunity to suggest their own favourites, and there will be time for discussion and comparison. Topics week-by-week are as follows: 'The Infant', 'The Schoolboy', 'The Lover', 'The Soldier', 'The Justice', 'The Pantaloon', 'Second Childishness'.
