Today is the day that all students will hear our 'School Prefect' campaigns. We have 15 Year 10 students who are running for School Prefect. During Forum their campaign messages will be shared for students to make a democratic vote on who they would like to listen to them and represent them in a new era at The Bulwell Academy.
Here's a quick reminder of our revised uniform expectations for September 2024.
Please note some of the changes when organising your child's uniform for September. We want all children to look smart and be proud to wear their Bulwell Academy uniform when we return to school. If you have any queries or are worried about the financial impact of buying uniform for your child, please do get in touch: [email protected].
Don't forget that the Academy has a Recycled Uniform Shop to support you with reducing clothing waste and helping you to buy uniform at low cost (or for free if you are donating your 'old' good quality uniform items).
We are always in need of more items for our shop. When you are sorting out uniform that is no longer needed, please bag it up and drop off at Reception or have a look and see if there is anything that you can swap it for on our rails.
Further information about the uniform expectations can be found here: bit.ly/UniformSept2024
A big well done to year 10 students who took part in an oracy workshop with Talk The Talk
The session focused on showing students how to talk in public, building their confidence and abilities throughout the day with them eventually presenting to the rest of the group about a subject that interests them.
Champions from the day were Georgiana T and Charlotte P with honourable mentions to Destiny I and Deacon A.
Well done again year 10 and thanks to Joe Rowntree from Talk the Talk for a fantastic day!
Just 4 more get-ups and then the summer holidays are here! Have fun this summer holiday, keep well and stay safe!

A week ago today we finished our first ever Pride & Diversity Week with a visit from outBurst who support LGBTQ+ young people and their families across the city. They were delighted to talk to many students to provide them with information about their charity. You can find out more here: base51.org/outburst
The whole week was very bright and colourful with Pride friendly music out of the front of school, information shared in forums, and a successful drop in area that students have been making the most out of.
During the week, students came together to generate a new Monday LGBT Lunch Club. They have learnt about the UK history of LGBTQ+, who to go to if they need support and have decided on a framework for the club. Any students who would like to join should visit the Counselling Room or the SEND Office to get an LGBT Club Pass.
To find out more about what your child has been learning about Pride & Diversity, please take a look at the presentations delivered in Forum: bulwellacademy.org.uk/pride-diversity-week
Our best attending tutor group last week was 7W with 95% attendance.
The best tutor group in each year group wins a sweet treat to share every Fantastic Friday. Who will win today? ⭐️
One week ago, Year 11 were arriving to their Prom at the Nottingham Belfry Hotel, and they all would have missed Alex, Ellie-May and Raj appearing on the BBC Midlands evening news. Listening to these young people brings back memories of their journey from Year 7 to Year 11. It may have been 5 years of their lives, but not all of that was spent in school due to the Covid pandemic. Now their journey at The Bulwell Academy has ended and they are looking forward to getting their GCSE results to see if their hard work has paid off and to see what come's next.
Come to school on Fantastic Friday to receive your Friday Paycheck plus the chance to earn 15 extra Bulwell Bucks for 100% attendance for the week. Take a look at everything that is on offer!

A huge congratulations to Year 9's Kayshree, whose fabulous Manga-inspired entry won BookLife’s national comic competition! The BookLife team who selected Kayshree’s comic as the winner described her work as “stunning”, and we certainly agree.
You can see it for yourself here: bit.ly/BABookLife
For creating the winning entry, Kayshree received a 7-book collection of Graphic Readers from BookLife Publishing, as well as an illustrated poster featuring one of her characters. Additionally, our school library also received £100 worth of books.
