Great to see the exhibition of all the work done by the Colour of Love Project who, with the help of NTU student volunteers researched mix race relationships across Nottingham. You can visit at the New Art Exchange and also get involved with them by contacting our team.
Dr Pavlina Nikita and Dr Katherine Friend (Institute of Education) are carrying out a piece of research aimed at understanding how EU students negotiate their identity within the context of Brexit, a time of tremendous political and social uncertainty and change that potentially puts EU students on the spot because of their nationality.
The project seeks to explore the views and dispositions of 7 undergraduate and 7 postgraduate EU students currently studying at NTU, prior to the anticipated separation of the UK from the European Union and after a firm decision is made regarding the fate of the UK in the EU. Through their work, they hope to disrupt the conceptualisations of ‘inclusion’ in higher education to include the experiences of EU students living in the UK at a time when the country is struggling with its own identity and stance on immigration.
If you would like to be involved get in touch with Pavlina ([email protected]) or Katherine ([email protected]).

Join East Midlands Engaged at the Nottingham Conference Centre at the city campus for their Engage for Success Movement.
The movement has no set base, which enables volunteers to work from home at times that suit them. There’s a variety of opportunities available from being involved in research projects on issues of engagement, project management, social media development, marketing, website development, radio and the opportunity to interact with senior management from leading organisations. In addition to work experience, Engage for Success is supported by a variety of organisations, which provides excellent networking opportunities.
The event tomorrow is an opportunity for Engage for Success to thank their current volunteers, and to enable those who are thinking of volunteering to see what the movement does.

Celebrating Communities - EFS Volunteer Thank You Event 2018 sure has been an interesting one for us here at Engage for Success! With this in mind we would love for you to put this date....
As part of here are some amazing words from Lorna, one of our partners at the Witness Service.
What value does the Witness Service gain from having NTU volunteers?
Witness Service has worked really closely with NTU for a number of years and we always get a lot of interest in our volunteering from NTU students. Our roles provide emotional and practical support to victims and witnesses attending court. Being able to work with NTU to promote these roles regularly means that we are able to recruit a highly skilled, diverse team of volunteers.
Without volunteers we would simply not be able to deliver this service so I can't express how valuable our volunteers are. We currently have approximately 14 active volunteers from NTU so they make up a significant proportion of our volunteer numbers in Nottinghamshire. We can demonstrate a direct correlation between positive feedback we receive from our service users and our volunteers (including our NTU volunteers). This shows how invaluable their role and their commitment to improving victims and witnesses experience of the court process is.

Maggie's (Cancer Support Centre) -Kitchen Table Day
We wanted to let you know about Maggie’s Kitchen Table Day, which returns this Spring. At its simplest level a Maggie’s Kitchen Table Day fundraiser could be a coffee morning or a bake sale, while at a more obscure level it could be pretty much anything where people get around the kitchen table – a dominoes challenge, a knit and natter session or even a pot luck dinner party! We chose the name “Kitchen Table Day” to reflect the fact that much of the practical, emotional and social support provided by our professional staff to Maggie’s Centre visitors is offered around our kitchen table and very often over a cup of tea or coffee.
Get your friends, coursemates, maybe even your lecturers together around your kitchen table on Friday 27 April in aid of Maggie's.
You can register to get your free pack on how to put on a successful event: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/maggies-kitchen-table-day-2018-registration-39953837002
