🎃 Orange you excited for Halloween? 🎃

With Halloween quickly approaching! We wanted to share some spooktacular tips about keeping your little monsters safe this Halloween:

👻 Sweets are super, but not for Pets:
- Chocolate can be extremely harmful to pets, causing symptoms like vomiting, diarrhoea, and even seizures. The darker the chocolate, the more dangerous it is.
- Xylitol, a sugar substitute found in sugar-free sweets and gum, is toxic to pets. Ingesting even a small amount can lead to a poisoning. Store sweets in a secure location out of reach.

👻 Costume Considerations:
- While dressing up your pet can be fun, not all animals enjoy it. Pay attention to your pet's behaviour when wearing a costume. If they seem distressed remove the costume. Ensure that the costume doesn't restrict movement, vision, or breathing. Avoid costumes with small, detachable parts that could be chewed or swallowed.

👻 Pumpkin Precautions:
- While plain, cooked pumpkin is safe and even healthy for pets, be cautious of decorative pumpkins with candles. Pets can knock them over, potentially causing burns or fires. Consider using battery-operated lights instead.

👻 ID Tags and Microchips:
- Halloween can be a chaotic time with frequent visitors and open doors. Ensure your pet has an up-to-date ID tag and microchip in case a pet goes missing.

👻 Trick-or-Treat Traffic:
- Halloween night can be overwhelming for pets some due to the constant doorbell ringing and strangers in costumes. Keep your pets in a quiet room away from the front door to reduce stress.

👻 Hidden Hazards:
- Decorations with wires and cords can be enticing for pets to chew on. Exposed wires can result in electrical shocks. Safely secure these decorations and others around the house and keep them out of your pet's reach.

👻 Nasty Noises:
- Some pets may be scared by the noise of Halloween celebrations. Provide a quiet and comfortable space where they can retreat to if they feel stressed. Consider using music or calming pheromone diffusers to help ease their anxiety.

If you are worried about your pets this Halloween, or your pet needs an appointment. Please contact the practice as always.

Witching you a happy Halloween 🧙‍♀️
