"The Big Appeal should be called the huge appeal, because that the difference it makes to people who come through the Neonatal Unit" - Carole, Stuart Broad's mum.
Carole saw first hand the care that the incredible team at Neonatal give to parents and babies who spend weeks, and even months on the unit, after Stuart was born prematurely. We were delighted to welcome both Stuart and Carole for a very special tour of the new Neonatal Unit which is currently being built at QMC.
Through The Big Appeal, you can help create a homely environment and provide special medical equipment for babies and families in the new Neonatal Unit.

Thanks to funding from Nottingham Hospitals Charity, the Nottingham Breast Institute is benefiting from new advanced technology that helps alleviate the anxiety and uncertainty of those waiting for breast cancer test results. By reducing the need for additional biopsies and MRI scans, this equipment directly benefits patients during a stressful time and helps to minimize the need for further invasive procedures.

We met so many incredible fundraisers at the Donor Run on Saturday, including Karen, who tackled her first 5k in years.
Karen shared her powerful connection with Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, praising the critical care her family received.
“The care on Critical Care, the Covid ward, and Winifred 2 was crucial, and the staff, from the ward to mum’s consultant Ash, treated us like family. I ran to honour their care and raise awareness for organ donation in memory of my husband’s nephew, who saved lives through donation.”
Karen absolutely smashed the Donor Run, and we’re so proud of her and all of our amazing runners! 👏
✨Every year, colleagues across Team NUH help us raise over £4 million, making a significant difference across Nottingham's hospitals. Amazing staff member Vreni Verhoeven is one of our fantastic fundraisers!
With over 20 years of supporting young patients with type 1 diabetes at Nottingham hospitals, Vreni conquered the Outlaw Triathlon last month! 🏊♀️🚵♀️🏃♀️ Her incredible 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile cycle, and 26.2-mile run raised over £800 for the Paediatric Endocrine and Diabetes department.
A huge well done and thank you Vreni! We're all so proud of what you have achieved.

Meet Arthur, one of our Big Appeal heroes. Born six weeks early with non-functioning kidneys, he spent eight weeks in the Neonatal Unit and Nottingham Children's Hospital. At age four, he underwent a life-saving kidney transplant.
“We’re just so grateful to all the staff at Nottingham Children’s Hospital for caring for us through such a difficult time,” says Arthur's mum, Megan.
Now seven, Arthur regularly visits for check-ups, spending much time in the waiting room. Our Big Appeal aims to make the Neonatal Unit more homely for parents and the Children's Outpatients waiting room more enjoyable for children like Arthur.
