Wee honey dipper in elm for a very special person - hope you'll like it M.

Sailboat in plum, spruce and elm. Following the "Clipper round the world" craze in Oban.

Octopus' arm clasping a seashell, spoon in cherry with "black watch" tartan ribbon. Hope you like it.

This long creative journey called for a proper outdoor photo session. Scottish elm complimented by natural lighting of a setting sun.
In this 60cm in diameter octopus sculpture I've tried to connect shape of this magnificent animal with natural beauty of the elm wood - I can only hope I haven't disappointed.

Update: 150 grit finished, and I'm happy to report that I've virtually no fingerprints X). Hopefully I'll be able to present finished carving in a week or so.
I'm super excited seeing this beauty shaping up with each stroke of sanding paper.

I've submerged myself into this project one and half months ago. This is going to be my biggest carving by far, so quite understandingly I cannot resist the desire to share the progress (whilst I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for all the fun sanding that lies ahead X).

Birdie on a twig in sunset - stained and waxed elm. Wall hanging piece.

"Mola Mola" or Sunfish. This beautiful, googly eyed giant has gelatinous flesh enabling it to dive at tremendous depths (no swim bladder). It's often sighted surfacing and laying on its side (perhaps to warm up in the sun after deep dive - hence the name Sunfish).

This wood carving is made in ash.
H 30cm, W 17cm

"Scotland's loneliest ram" inspired by story of Fiona, an ewe stranded alone on a rugged shoreline in the Highlands.
This wood carving is made in rowan burl , bow pins made out of elm. I've tried to save as much of natural beauty of the burl as I could.
Contrasted, and then finished with wax.
Dimensions: h- 15cm; l- 25cm

Anthropomorphized snail. The shell is made out of oak burl and the "feet" is stained lime wood. Let me know what you think.

Medium: lime wood

Wee experimental piece- it was good to tryout new finishing techniques, learn, and make something different at the same time. I know it may not be to everyone's liking.

Beta fish - single piece of my beloved Scottish elm. I've tried to use wood grain and chatoyance of elm as (or rather instead of) details. Hope you like it.

Flapper skate in Scottish elm, wall hanging piece.
I'm super chuffed with the way this project turned out, after quite few ups and downs. Unfortunately I can't quite capture 3D nature of the elm's grain.

Skate fish (male) in Scottish elm on Hungarian plum base - wood lovers extravaganza. Both woodgrains complement each other perfectly.

"Dreamsnatcher" is a wee cooperation between wood eating sea creatures and I. Top part is carved in cherry and the base is made of worm-eaten driftwood (de-wormed and secured, and painted). It's definitely a story telling piece, and first ever creation that brought me pure joy without any struggle. Feel free to comment...

Working on my "Dreamsnatcher" and enjoying every second of it. Very different from my usual projects. Cherry wood.

It was a rare opportunity to see how much I improved over past few years ( big head lol).
