Jointing the wood for a custom wardrobe.
It has to fit in an alcove at the clients house, so precision and accuracy are essential to create a snug fit.

I would like to thank Chris Fisher, the Blind wood turner, for doing such a splendid job giving the legs for this table their shape.
Still needs a light sand and a coat of oil, but thanks to Chris, it is just one step away from completion.

Last Tuesday, i had a drive over the beautiful Derbyshire hills to go and meet Chris Fisher, AKA The Blind Woodturner.

Chris is a great guy, very generous with his time and knowledge and incredibly talented with a lathe.

The story of him losing his sight, how he got in to woodturning, the challenges he has faced and the ingenuity of his solutions deserves to be made in to a film.

I am going back to see him again this week, to pick up the coffee table legs i left with him to turn. I am really looking forward to meeting him again and excited to see what he has done.

He also gave me a HUUUGE piece of spalted beech that i can't wait to start working with, and two old snooker table legs that are going to make amazing lamps.

While searching for a turner to do the legs for my table, i came across Chris Fisher aka "The blind wood turner"
When i first saw the name, i thought it was just a name, like the naked chef wasn't actually naked i thought surely this guy isn't actually blind.
He is 100% blind, he works by feel and creates some of the most beautiful works of art i have ever seen in my life, go and check out his website/Youtube channel and prepare yourself to be blown away.
I just spoke to Chris on the phone, he is a lovely fella, very helpful and i am going meeting him on Tuesday.
I explained what i needed doing and he said he is more than happy to help....go and check him out.

Both boards now surfaced and ready for a mould to be built.
Laid them out to get a rough idea of dimensions, this thing is gonna be huge (almost 3 by 1 1/2 metres).
Also did a very bad mock up with the rubbish editing feature on phones to get a little indication of what it will look like, I quite like it.

Bench created for Rachael Bennion's RHS Tatton Park silver gilt medal, and people's choice winning garden "journey home".
The garden was designed by Rachael and built by staff, volunteers and service users of Petrus, a Rochdale based homeless charity that have been helping the vulnerable people of Rochdale (and the surrounding boroughs) for the last 50 years.
As well as helping people with housing problems, addiction, mental health and other issues, they are also part of a social prescribing programme aimed at improving the health and well being of the town's people, delivering a range of community activities across four key areas:

Nature and environment
Sports and leisure
Arts and culture
Finance and advice services.
