Goal: Build lean muscle, and gain confidence in the gym.
How: 4 week training programme - ongoing with progressive overload.
When: 4 days per week with a full body split.
First of all I want to say this post NOT about dieting or weight loss.
There are lots if studies to show fasting has lots of health benefits including living longer, improved memory and learning, mental clarity and sharpness, decreased inflammation, anti-aging, increased HGH, cell reproduction, and cell regeneration), better balanced metabolic hormones (like insulin, leptin and ghrelin, which regulate hunger and metabolism), detoxification, increased energy and better immune function. With so many positive side-effects as a result of IF, I was looking forward to giving it a try!
I did a complete fast for 5 days to reset completely.
There are many different Intermittent fasting methods. The main one is to fast for 16 hours each day and eating for the remaining 8.
During the fast, you can drink water, black coffee, tea, and sparkling water.
This sounds difficult however after the first day I felt okay. I felt more hungry on day two so had to dig deep and push through. Day three and four I actually okay - I felt more alert and actually have enjoyed the process a little more.
Your body eventually starts clearing out old damaged cells that you don't need anymore and might be causing you problems. Replenishes brand new stem cells that go to different parts of your body. It really feels like you have a brand new body doing this experience.
On day five is the significant boost of the human growth hormone to heal tissue and old injuries in your body.
At the end of it all, I just felt physically great. I lost a little body fat, but the main thing that I noticed was mental clarity.
If you are in a stage where you're feeling stuck or unsure; where you don't feel good in your body, maybe you're having skin or tummy issues; and you just feel kind of generally bogged down, refraining from eating is an incredible experience to reset your entire system.
