What's coming up!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday 27th September, 09:30-10:30am, Heyside Pre-School will be hosting a coffee morning all in aid of Macmillan coffee morning. Please come along and show your support for such a fantastic cause.

If anybody would like to join in and make a scarecrow to be displayed on the hunt, please get in touch. Even if you don’t live in the area we have places to display them. This years theme is children’s films.

Part time Early Years Educator (With the possibility of working up to Full time)
Closing Date: 27th September 2024

We are looking for a passionate, caring individual who can provide a hands-on, fun creative and innovative experience for all children to learn and develop in our home from home environment.

Heyside Preschool is a charity run pack away setting, established over 50 years ago, running term time only. We are very child led and encourage learning through play.


Early Years Educator responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

• Ensuring that all children in the setting are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development,
• Observe, support and extend the children's learning,
• Plan appropriate activities and learning using the EYFS framework,
• All aspects of an Early Years setting, including nappy changing, preparing snack/activities, cleaning and keeping on top of our environment, both indoors and outdoors, having key children,
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with families and external agencies,
• Demonstrate good working practice of inclusion as well as an understanding EAL and SEND,
• Ensuring that all policies and procedures are embedded into daily practice and followed at all times,
• Being flexible to work additional hours, as and when needed,
• Attend staff meetings, training etc. as and when required.

You must have:

• A good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS),
• A Level 3 or working towards a Level 3 recognised qualification in childcare,
• A minimum Level 2 qualification in English Language,
• Commitment to becoming part of our hard-working team of practitioners,
• Be able to lift and move equipment, getting things out and putting them away each day,
• At least one years' experience in an Early Years Setting.

All appointments are subject to:

• An enhanced DBS check,
• Checking of relevant qualification, recognised by the DfE,
• Proof of right to work in the UK,
• Suitable references with at least one from your current employer,
• An explanation for any gaps in your employment or education history to be included on your cv.

Salary: Minimum wage over 38 weeks, with holiday pay paid at Christmas, Easter and Summer holidays.

Oldham nursery like a 'home away from home' praised by education watchdog A nursery in Oldham which has been described as like a 'home away from home' has been praised by the education watchdog.

A massive thank you to the amazing Team Heyside for my lovely surprise retirement (better known as change of circumstances 😀) party. After the initial shock I had a brilliant night and so lovely to have all my family and special friends there to celebrate with me.
Thank you to everyone for coming and for all the lovely gifts and cards.

What a night! Well 10 months of secrets 🤫

Well the time has come, and if we’re being honest even though we knew this day was coming, we didn’t realise how quickly it would sneak up on us all.

It’s the end of an era at Heyside Pre-School. After over 40 years of hard work, dedication and commitment, Julie is retiring 😢

We have all loved working with you and will miss having you with us, but don’t worry it’s not goodbye, it’s more of a see you later because we won’t let you leave that easily 🤪🤣

You should be extremely proud of what you have achieved in making Heyside Pre-School the amazing setting it is today. We’ve been through so much together as a team, but team doesn’t seem like a good enough word because in reality we’re all like a family.
We’ve seen good times and some challenges but you’ve seen us through them all, and each one has only made this family stronger 💪🏻

You have seen generations come through the pre-school doors and have helped shape lots of little minds. “ To teach is to touch a life forever” and you have touched many lives.

Thank you for everything you have done, and we only hope we can continue to keep the legacy going strong.

Congratulations on your retirement or, as you like to say , change in circumstance because your sure have earned it. Enjoy spending time with your amazing family, and try not to wind Tony up too much 🤣

Even if you don’t live in the area you can still enter as we have houses who are able to display scarecrow entries for us.
