14th November - World Diabetes Day 📚

The majority of patients I see on a daily basis have diabetes.

Raised blood glucose levels can damage the sensation in your feet. This can also affect your circulation, which can lead to you getting less blood supply to your feet. Without a good blood supply you may have problems with cuts and sores healing.

If you don’t get these foot problems treated, they could lead to foot ulcers, infections and at worst amputations. Most foot problems can be prevented with good regular footcare.

It’s important to have your feet assessed annually by a Podiatrist or if you develop any problems you see a Podiatrist as soon as possible.

A very deserving recipient of this award 🏆

Dr Tim Kilmartin has been awarded the Diamond Award.

This is the RCPod's highest honour. It is awarded to individuals who can demonstrate sunstantial, outstanding and exemplary contribution to the profession of podiatry over a sustained period of time. There can be only 25 living recipients of the award at any one time.

Throughout his career, Dr Kilmartin has been involved in the audit and research of podiatric surgery outcomes and has published over 85 papers. During his 28 years of practice, Dr Kilmartin performed over 17,800 foot operations. He is a Visiting Professor at Ulster University and a Visiting Lecturer at the Universities of Galway and Huddersfield respectively.

Podiatry is postponed for summer leave until August 14th and all messages will be responded to then 🫶🏻

Our socials have been quiet lately as behind the scenes a lot of change is happening 😃⁣
A lot of you who already know me will know that for the past four years the clinic has been operating a number of days per week in the evening time only. ⁣
This has served me so well and I have been delighted to have built up a fantastic clientele which I am so grateful for. ⁣
Exciting times ahead as I will now be in the clinic MORE often and will be offering day time appointments on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as well as maintaining evenings on Mondays and Thursdays 🤩 ⁣
