🔴 Last week former Oxfordshire Chief Fire Officer John Parry popped by Rewley Road for a catch up with Red Watch. Unfortunately both our fire engines were called away to incidents before John arrived, so the only member of the watch he actually got to meet was Ff Reading🙋🏼‍♂️

However Ff Reading made John a cuppa tea (turns out he prefers coffee😬), and between them they managed to record a brief conversation covering Johns Career.

👨🏾‍🚒Last week West Midlands Fire Service, Chief Fire Officer Wayne Brown was one of several speakers who took part in an event held in Oxford City recognising Octobers Black History Month. The event was organised by Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (Official) & Oxford County Council. 🎤 Straight after the event, Wayne very kindly popped by Rewley Road Fire Station for a quick chat with members of Red Watch, which can be seen below👇🏼 👏🏻 Many thanks for taking the time to chat to us Sir. #blackhistorymonth #rewleyreds

Rewley Road's doors are open until 4! Come along and look inside

On Friday 4th Aug, the Chief Executive of Oxfordshire County Martin Reeves, joined Red Watch for small glimpse of what we do as Firefighters. As a Fire & Rescue service we fall under Oxfordshire County Council & although Chief Fire Officer Rob MacDougall is in charge, Martin as the Chief Executive ultimately sits right at the top. Martin was given fire kit & thrown straight into a Hydraulic Platform ride before then taking part in a BA exercise. We then turned out on blue lights to an industrial alarm incident, & whilst returning to station stopped by an elderly residents house to perform a Safe & Well visit. Watch the following chat with Martin to see just how passionate he is about making Oxfordshire a safer & better county for all. Something we as Firefighters are always striving towards. Huge Thanks to Martin for taking part.

📣 Who let the Chiefs out! 🔴 Last week Red Watch had the pleasure of hosting Retired Oxfordshire Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Maurice Johnson (OFRS CFO from 1985 - 1997) at Rewley Road Station. Check out our chat with him a few posts ago by scrolling down to the 20th July. 🧑‍🚒 Whilst we had Maurice at Rewley we also had a visit from our current CFO Rob MacDougall. We thought it would be a missed opportunity not get the two of them together on camera for a quick 10min chat. 😗 Apologises for the ringing you'll hear near the halfway mark. It's not your hearing, but a few of our firefighters training with our new Breathing Apparatus (BA) which went live this week. Just because there's a Chief or two in town doesn't mean the fun stops 💪🏼

🔴 Yesterday Red Watch had the absolute honour to host Ex Oxfordshire Chief Fire Officer Maurice Johnson. Maurice served as Chief Fire Officer in OFRS between 1985 - 1997. ☕️ Maurice joined us at Rewley Road for tea, cake, & to regale some of his many adventures from throughout his career. We also managed to squeeze a 20 minute chat with him in front of the camera. 🤦🏼Apologises for the background noise interruptions during our chat. As an operational Fire station we can't completely avoid them, such as the appliance mobile ringing (weirdly this was a wrong number) or someone ringing the station door bell.

See us get to the finish line af rewley road

Shower time with Ff Curtis is always a drama 😆. This was a Improvised Decontamination Shower we setup using items found on our appliances. *In reality we would always work in pairs & the GTS wearers would brush substances off each using a brush.

🙏🏼 Many thanks to Station Manager (SM) Faisal Atcha who popped into Rewley Road for a chat with Red Watch yesterday 🔴 🎙️SM Atcha gave us a glimpse into his 15 year career (of which only the last 8 months has been with Oxfordshire) and some of his experiences. this also included some of his interests such as Korean Movies and birds of prey 🦅 🗣️It's always interesting to hear from our peers, and a great source for us to learn from. 🚒 If you are interested in becoming an On-Call Firefighter why not take a look at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/council/working-oxfordshire-county-council/fire-service-recruitment/on-call-firefighters

🎉 Congratulations to Rewley Road Firefighter Dave Bragg on turning 50 years young and still being as fit as a fiddle 🕺🏼 We asked Dave what his secret to staying in shape was and he had this to say “Marmite, an inch thick on each slice of toast and it’ll keep you going for years” We wouldn’t advise this as it’ll cost a small fortune 🫙 Happy Birthday Mate 🥳
