🔴 Using all our fingers & toes to count on, Red Watch are proud to announce that we managed to raise £3225 in donations over the weekend with our Charity car wash 🙌🏼 🙌🏼 🙌🏼

💰All the money raised will be going to Fire Fighters Charity & St Luke’s Church.
Another tour comes to an end for White watch, as Blue watch take over from us this morning at 08:15. A tour for one watch (team) consists of two day shifts, followed by two night shifts.
Rewley Rd is a wholetime station, which means there are firefighters & fire engines available to respond to incidents 24/7. The station is crewed by 4 watches. White, Red, Blue and Green. ⬜️🟥🟦🟩
This tour we have been busy attending a variety of incidents, maintaining our skills and attending risk visits.
Some of these incidents include:
🐕Animal rescue
🔥Fires
🚗Road Traffic Collision
🟥 A massive congratulations to Red watch on their two day charity car wash. They worked tirelessly to raise a huge amount of money for the Firefighters charity. We all look forward to their big reveal.

Washing vehicles till 4pm & then again tomorrow 10am - 4pm
🚨 1 day to go until the start of the Rewley Road Charity Car wash.
🙋♀️ We need your help Help to raise money for The firefighters Charity & St Luke’s Church. Even if it’s just by sharing this 🙏🏼
🤔 Why St Luke’s Church you may ask?
☔️ Without the help of St Luke’s Church our job when the Abingdon Road floods would be a lot harder. In the past they’ve allowed us 24hr access to their facilities along with somewhere to rest when we’ve worked night & day trying to open the Abingdon road & protect the community. We feel we owe them a big thank you, as do the rest of the City.

Turns out it doesn't rain it 'paws' today White Watch went to our second dog rescue from the water in two weeks.

🔥Not just fires🔥
White Watch, Rewley Road undertook some 'working at height training at Junk Yard Golf Club, in Oxford.
The scenario was set by one of the Crew Managers, to test the Firefighters and one of the new Incident Commanders. In this scenario, a casualty had fallen 10/12ft from a parapet and needed to be rescued using our rope rescue capabilities. These skills are a core part of a Firefighter's role. Each wholetime fire engine carries a bag of equipment such as ropes(lines), karabiners, pulleys and raising/lowering equipment. Oxfordshire also has a specialist rescue tender, based at Kidlington. These Firefighters are trained to higher level and provide countywide resilience with specialist rescue.
As you can see from the pictures, plenty of teamwork is involved. We need to communicate, have clear plans and ensure everyone involved in the training exercise learns and refreshes their skills. If you look at the last picture, it appears the boss was happy too
A massive thank you to Junkyard Golf Club for allowing us to train there yesterday.
Also if any other businesses think they have a space for us to train in new and different environments please feel free to get in touch.

⚠️ATTENTION⚠️
Do you park with consideration of emergency services in mind?
🚗🚒🚗
We understand that some of the roads in Oxford can be quite tight but we ask if you can please park as close to the curb as possible, with your wheels in line and mirrors folded in. This assists all emergency service vehicles when responding to incidents
We are posting this to remind the community that maintaining emergency access is vital for us as the Fire & Rescue Service but also the Police and Ambulance service.
Yesterday we had a tight squeeze on a residential street and although the residents wanted to help, we had to slow down to crawling speed and this of course delayed our response,
Thank.you.

This afternoon White Watch were called to an animal rescue in the city area. The information passed to the responding crew was a 'dog stuck in a hole'. Upon arrival, we met a gorgeous doggy called Suzie, who had managed to get herself trapped under/in a jetty in the water. Just as the Firefighters were formulating a plan to release this brave girl, two real heroes appeared. Heroes in the shape of two local swimmers. These lovely ladies assisted us in releasing Suzie, with the help of her very relieved owners. A real team approach.
As you can see, Suzie was delighted to be out and had a little play with one of our life jackets. No treats were administered on scene.
On a serious note, we urge the whole community to take care around the beautiful waterways in the city, especially when the weather is nice. Keep an eye on your lovely pets too.

Another end to a busy week for White Watch, Rewley Road. As Blue Watch take over this morning we are looking back on a week of incidents and training
On the first day shift, eight of the watch attended a Tactical Firefighting course at Fire Service College, Moreton in Marsh. This is a course designed to refresh our skills around firefighting in very hot compartments.
On the second day shift the whole watch took part in water rescue training alongside a crew from Slade Park and specialist rescue team from Kidlington This was an opportunity to run through a number of scenarios and refresh skills that all watches use at water incidents. With the summer months coming up, if you do enter the water around Oxford, please do so with caution.
The night shifts this week were spent doing technical training and catching up on equipment maintenance. They also seemed to be heavily punctuated by incidents.
🔴 🙌🏼 Please join us in welcoming aboard Red Watch latest Firefighters Dan Smith & Ruth Price.
🧑🚒 Dan transferred over from Slade Park Fire Station, & Ruth recently passed the Wholetime recruitment process (Congratulations Ruth 👏🏻). Both Dan & Ruth are also On-Call firefighters at Witney Fire Station.
🗣️ When Dan was questioned what he could make the watch for dinners during our night shift he said “Mash potato with mash potato & then boiled potatoes…crushed”. Turns out Dan’s a big advocate for mash potato🥔😂
🔴 Today Red Watch had a surprise visitor. Lucy who volunteers at KEEN Oxford popped by to drop off a lovely card & cake as a thank you for a visit we did to Keen last month🧁
👏🏻 Many thanks Lucy & everyone at Keen.
🟢 This morning, firefighters from Green Watch took both trucks to Woodland Park, Kennington, to engage with the community about fire safety and offer safe and well visits to all residents. We managed to meet and speak to a lot of people, performed 13 safe and well visits, fitted 21 smoke alarms, installed 7 CO2 detectors, and made 1 safeguarding referral. All in all, it was a great morning's work!
Don’t worry if you missed us this time; we will be back here again next week! 👍🏼
🚨 It is vitally important to have working fire detection in your homes. Attacted is a photo showing the condition of one of the smoke alarms we replaced.

🔴 Last week former Oxfordshire Chief Fire Officer John Parry popped by Rewley Road for a catch up with Red Watch. Unfortunately both our fire engines were called away to incidents before John arrived, so the only member of the watch he actually got to meet was Ff Reading🙋🏼♂️
However Ff Reading made John a cuppa tea (turns out he prefers coffee😬), and between them they managed to record a brief conversation covering Johns Career.
Today at around 10am a crew from Rewley Road Fire Station attended an incident involving a child locked inside a vehicle. On Arrival the crew were met by a mother who’d accidentally managed to lock her keys inside the car whilst her son Joel was still in inside.
🚗🔑🤦🏽♀️
Firefighters successfully managed to gain access to the keys and unlock the car without causing any damage. Well done Joel who remained calm and patient throughout.
Firefighter Chapman said “Please remember to be careful of auto locks on vehicles when placing the keys down”.
Today being fathers day and also with one of our Firefighters Stuart Tomlin leaving, White watch were able to take some time and hold a nice family day for a few hours for the watch and their supportive families.
Stuart Tomlin has been part of white watch for 3 and a half years and will be missed greatly he is continuing his career in Northamptonshire fire and rescue service where he will be a bit closer to home.
🔴Red Watch had a great day today with Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue’s training staff at moreton in the marshes Fire service college!
This was a tactical firefighting refresher course brushing up on gas cooling and firefighting techniques 💦🔥🥵
🔴 From the Red Watch here at Rewley we wanted to say a big thanks to everyone who took part yesterday.
👏🏻 We also wanted to say a massive thank you to all the firefighters & staff who gave up a sunny Saturday to help us run this event. Without you it would of been extremely difficult.
Helping out were on-call & wholetime firefighters from:
Abingdon Fire Station
Eynsham Fire Station
Faringdon Fire Station
Slade Park Fire Station
Woodstock Fire Station
Plus everyone else from across the service who supported it.
☔️ It’s been a tough few days for many due to the weather, and it’s certainly kept Red Watch busy over the last two nights.
🌊 We’ve been negotiating various flood incidents including removing water from peoples homes & gardens, rescuing members of the public stranded in their cars, and aiding our High Volume Pump team from Banbury Fire Station working to clear the Abingdon Road of flood water.
🙏🏼 We’d like to say a huge thanks to the Oxfordshire residents who have been arming us with cups of tea & biscuits as we’ve worked through the nights. It really does help to keep us going ☕️ 🍪

From everyone at Red Watch & Rewley Road we want to wish you all a very Happy & Safe New Year.
🔴🔵⚪️🟢
🎉🥳🎉🥳🎉🥳
🔴 As we start to wave goodbye to 2023, this morning the Rewley Reds waved goodbye to one of our Firefighters 👋🏼 😭
🧑🚒 Ff Sale has been on Watch for 3 years & has never stopped making us laugh throughout (except when we are being professional of course).
🤝 Today he transfers over to Kidlington Fire Station joining our Rescue Tender. We wish him all the best & will hopefully bump into him from time to time.
🔴Happy Christmas everyone from Red Watch who are keeping Oxford safe today but managed to eat Christmas dinner without being called out! 🎅
Stay safe everyone .🔴
