This was a lot of fun to put together. I remember and myself having a chat about the concept and once we decided that a retro inspired 2 colour poster style would work well for Joseph's quiz book I set about designing the final cover, distressed detailing and all.

One of the more recent books I've designed that is no longer under NDA... always nice to be able to share the work on here. Little known fact on this cover: The finger nails you see on the model were originally black and longer. And initially I tried to photoshop them, but I ended up resorting to having model her hand in the same position for me so that I could photograph and transfer her (Jess's) fingernails onto the models hands. My wife is now a finger nail model! 🤣😂

I still really like the clean look with the strong series identity we achieved with these covers.

The nice thing about working as a freelance graphic designer is that no two projects are ever the same. One of my most recent projects was a commission by to design him a custom snowboard graphic. The board was printed by and came out looking even better than I would have hoped for!

I loved working on these books, as they involved 3 individually cast model shoots in 3 different photographic studios. Lots of work at the time, but worth it! 😀

Cover design from a few years back. I drew the Cthulhu symbol with a biro on standard photocopier paper before scanning into Illustrator to trace over it with vector shapes.

The iPad is one of my favourite tools for working out cover compositions and image editing. I love the fact that I can sit on the sofa and get work done away from the desktop these days. When I bought this iPad pro back in 2017 neither Photoshop or illustrator were available yet for iOS. We've come a long way! What's your favourite tool aside from your computer for creative work?
