What a brilliant boxing show.

The 2024 was my first time back in 4 years.

20 brave students from Oxford Brooke’s university stepped into the boxing ring for the first time in front of over 2000 people.

It was a real pleasure to be there, had a great night and met loads of nice people.

Very proud to have been able to help and most importantly I made some great friends along the way.

Well done to all involved

My prediction.

Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou

We are only a few hours away from this interesting match up.

A lot of talk in my gym about which way this fight will go.
If I’m totally honest it’s an interesting one. Clearly Ngannou has the power to put anyone on a different dimension.
You can only really go by last performances. AJ destroyed his last opponent forcing him to quit and Ngannou lost on points but had some success against the world best heavyweight. Dispite what people think he did not win the fight but he held a good account of himself and his fighting ability.

Ngannou showed he can take a punch, he can stay calm and focused when his opponent is moving and using flashy foot and hand work. He showed he can land and also he can put combinations together and land.

That could cause AJ problems as he likes to trade and if he gets caught in a similar way Andy Ruiz jr caught him Aj could be put away for good.

I go for aj winning on points as I don’t think he will want to risk being KO’d at this stage of his career. Which is a very real possibility.
I think Ngannou will be a bit too slow for Aj pace and fluid combination punching.
But I also think aj will be tentative and very cautious.

Let’s see what do you think ??

Fight review :- Tyson Fury Vs Francis Ngannou

It seems there are more “spectacle” fights to review these days than serious fights where both men are Boxers and world champions.

Most of you will know Tyson Fury by now, he’s the 7 ft giant who rose to the top of the heavyweight division very publicly and astonishingly.
He’s probably more famous for his battles outside of the ring with depression and his mental health ambassadorship.
Ironically his biggest asset inside the ring is his mentality and ability to stay focused, calm and relaxed under pressure. He takes most of his fights as a joke and laughs his way all the way through the promotional tours and even dances and laughs into the ring most times. He could not be happier than when he is in the ring and that in itself is a huge asset to a boxer.

Francis Ngannou is little known amongst those outside of the UFC.
He rose to fame travelling from Cameroon to the United states to make money as a mixed martial artist.
He found his pot of gold when he took on Stipe Miocic who was the top dog in the ultimate fighting championship. He out wrestled the American to a unanimous decision at UFC 2020.

There is no doubt the African powerhouse could probably knock down a building if he tried hard enough. His raw power and size is enough to frighten most.
But in the boxing world (or more importantly the ring) size is not everything. Ngannou is slow, very very very slow. There is no way he is going to be able to keep up with Fury who is the complete opposite FAST!
Ngannou is wide open with his shots, he lunges in, (in UFC you can get away with that as you generally go for a take down)
He is going to have bad habits you can’t afford to take into a boxing ring against the best heavy weight in the world.
Point in case by the picture that shows Francis Ngannou has never had a single boxing match.

But it is a spectacle indeed. The location! Saudi Arabia in Riyadh’s newest stadium.
From what I’ve seen it’s become quite a party over there as every world champion from the last 25 years appears to be over in the Riyadh to be a part of this huge event and it has definitely been made a huge and lavish event by the promoters and hosts.

Fight prediction.
Tyson fury plays with Francis Ngannou for 5 or 6 rounds. A lot of baiting and gesturing with Ngannou either throwing in the towel after a bad drumming busts him up or the referee waves off a one sided event.

The real fight that should be taking place is Tyson fury vs oleksander Usyk for the undisputed titles.

Strength & Conditioning

What is it ?
Specific exercises that help you with speed, explosive power and the ability to continue to perform at the highest level possible for as long as possible.

This tutorial goes over 1 exercise you can do to help you progress and increase power and speed with your 1-2 punch combinations.

The bungee cord assists in taking pressure and strain off the shoulders. During the week a boxer will be hitting the heavy bag, working on the pads with his/her coach and sparring which involves a lot of impact.
When strength training it is necessary not to over load the muscles with extra tension from weight lifting.

Fight review

Tommy fury vs KSI

A YouTuber vs a champions younger sibling, it’s not a great review but it is a popular showing and has conjured up a lot of attention.
YouTube sensation KSI takes on Tyson fury’s younger brother Tommy fury in yet another fight that no one but everyone wants to see.

There’s no doubting KSI’s bravery and determination to win. Each times he’s been out on stage he’s put the work in and grafted to get as fit and strong as possible. Although the quality of the boxing against both opponents (namely Logan Paul) was low level he still showed a lot of heart and grit to dig deep.
Tommy fury has landed a great deal after love island having been out straight into the limelight and earning huge purses at the very start of his career.

It’s pretty safe to say Tommy will win this but may have some shaky moments. KSI don’t forget has a big punch and does have explosive 🧨 power but will struggle to keep up and I foresee him losing his cool and possibly leaving too many big gaps open for a potential knockout in the late rounds.

Prediction. 6th round TKO in Tommy’s favour.

FIGHT REVIEW..

Does this spell the end for ‘The Juggernaut’? …..

Last nights’ rematch ended with Britain’s Joe ‘The Juggernaut’ Joyce knocked out in round 3 in what was supposed to be his night for revenge against china’s giant Zhilei-Zhang.
The first fight back in April saw Joyce stopped in round 6 after a badly cut eye forced him to retire.

It was a slow affair in round 1 with Joyce looking tentative, which was strange to see. His nickname has always been his trademark, marching forward with a relentless pace, using his sheer size and power to wear down his opponents.
But Zhang is a monster of a man and equal if not bettered him in mass and strength.
Round 2 saw Zhang land a straight left from the southpaw stance which clearly hurt Joe who backed off and sensibly tried to survive the round.

It was sad to see Joe go down!
In the third round a crushing combination flattened him again from the southpaw stance the Chinaman threw a straight left to the body, followed up by a lead right hook to the jaw. The shot would have taken down a house and Joe could not continue although bravely he made it to his feet in 10 seconds. The referees hands waved it off.

Where does he go from here?
He has been in the shadows of the likes of Anthony Joshua and Tyson fury since he started his pro career back in 2017. A decorated amateur and Olympian he won a silver medal in the 2016 games. Losing to current world champion Oleksanda Usyk but putting on a good performance.

His highlight fight for me was against Daniel ‘Dynamite’ Dubois who had an unbeaten record and was fearsome and avoided as a fighter. Joyce took him on and stopped him in what was a hugely exciting fight between 2 undefeated heavyweights.

I hope it’s not the end for ‘The Juggernaught’ but at 38 years old, time is not a friend in this punishing sport.
In a division which is so heavily talented with top flight champions and contenders, what do you think is Joe Joyce future in Boxings heavyweight division?

The wall ball slam 💥 is a great exercise for boxers, fighters.

You could add this to your strength & conditioning plan 💪🏼 🥊

Targets 🎯

Muscles =
1. Core
2. Arms
3. Shoulders

Psychological & proprioceptive motor skills =
1. Hand eye Co ordination
2. Timing
3. Receiving and bracing for impact

Hits the core, strengthens and improves function of the trunk/torso.

Improves arm & shoulder strength and Co ordination.
This is an impact exercise so you will feel the shock waves of receiving the ball, and the heavier the ball the more you’ll feel that side of the impact.

Leave a comment for more on the wall ball slam or if you know a better exercise.

Fight Review

Saul Alvarez Vs jermel Charlo

Middleweight championship of the world 🌍

This is certainly a interesting fight. ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is one of the best pound 4 pound fighters in the world and has taken on everyone from welterweight to light heavyweight over the course of 10 years.
His achievements are huge, having taken on big punchers such as Golovkin, kovalev, and and now charlo, he’s proven time and time again that his ability, resilience and motivation to be the best, and beat the best, is ever present.

Jermal charlo is a world champion in his own right and division and has made his way to the top with stunning performances. A big middleweight, who’s always in shape, has a big right cross punch and good athleticism.

The fight may start off cagey, Canelo will look to pressure straight away moving forward with good head movement and feints and will want to see what charlo does and what mistakes he will make.
Charlo will be looking to establish his authority with a strong jab and I am pretty sure there will be a lot of clinching and grappling.

If the fight takes off, which it will do eventually I am sure then we are in for a treat. Neither man backing down and there will be fireworks from both sides looking for the finish! 💥

I just think Canelo has been in with too many top opponents and will have the edge in evasiveness on the inside. Charlo will get caught with more and more punches which will tally up and takes it toll.
Charlo has speed and what he needs to do is create an angle where he can land without Canelo seeing the shot. Then he could dethrone the Mexican king. But it’s a slim chance after all the top punchers he’s walked through in the past.

Canelo gets a late stoppage win in what will be a cracking fight with a lot of action.

Leave your comments below on what you predict.
Charlo or Canelo??? Who wins

Hola a todos 🥊

Hello everyone 🥊

Here we are practising the
DEFENCE STICKS

These are also good for :-
Defending against attacks and counter attacks
The sticks are made of sponge so it helps you maintain relaxed state of mind which is crucial in order to be evasive and slippery.
Accuracy. The sticks are a very small target so they require a greater amount of focus and precision with your shots.
Speed. Your reaction time and speed of both hand, and feet is also key and a good way to learn.
-
FUN! The most important thing is having fun and enjoying what you do,

disfruta y que tengas un buen día

Enjoy and have a good day folks

Our take on tonight’s rematch between 2 Brits Liam Smith Vs Chris Eubank Jr.

The bout has been billed as “the fight we never knew we needed” as the first match ended with a massive shock. After Eubanks had pretty much dominated with fast combinations and movement, Smith was blocking and coming forward but looked outclassed. Then Smith suddenly caught his opponent and trapped him in the corner with good footwork and a fast flurry of punches which ended with a big uppercut that floored Chris Jr for the first time in his career.

The knockdown was so heavy that once up he stumbled forward but was allowed to continue.
At which point Liam Smith rushed in with another volley of punches with threw Eubank down again and the referee waived it off!

There’s been controversy around the first fight, Eubank claiming Smith threw a deliberate illegal elbow to his face. The fact of the matter is he got caught and he got beat.

I think this next fight will be a cagey affair, Chris will not want to get involved and wont take any risks again. A boreing fight? Could possibly be! But I see Eubank pulling out a cagey win with long jabs and a lot of holding, Liam Smith will March forward guard up high and try to land again. But with Eubank now aware that if one lands it could be over he will avoid that risk by holding and clinching and saving his breath for the later rounds points win.

We got Chris Eubank Jr on points over 12 rounds in a boring rematch.

Our take on heavyweight world champion oleksander Usyk Vs Daniel Dubois.

The facts are that Dubois is a slow starter who hits just as hard if not harder than Anthony Joshua who has back to back loses to Usyk.

Let’s not forget that the former Ukrainian cruiserweight Usyk has already fought at heavyweight during his amateur days and even battle out a win against juggernaut Joe Joyce at the olympics. So he is not scared or unaccustomed to the heavy hitters.

Dubois needs credit as he does have hand speed and could land a bomb on Usyks chin and take him out. But with his slow feet and one to two punch combinations I don’t see him being fast enough to keep up with the Ukrainian master.
Usyk will dance around with quick feet and even quicker hands darting in and out and once he gets his rhythm going I think he could stop Daniel Dubois in the late rounds with the towel thrown in or the referee having seen enough.

Oleksander Usyks reign as WBA, IBF, WBO champion will continue.

What’s your thoughts on this fight and the future of the heavyweight division. will the Fury fight happen????
