CLOSED AT OXFORD GLOUCESTER GREEN WEDNESDAY MARKET

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good Christmas and keeping well.

I’m sorry to say that once again the Wednesday market at Oxford Gloucester Green has been closed due to the latest COVID tier system.
I tried to get special permission to open as we are essential to many of our customers for their weekly fresh fruit and vegetables.
It was confirmed today by the market operator L*D that no trader can open on the market square during this time.

We are not sure when we will be able to reopen so please watch this space for further updates.

We would like to thank all our lovely customers for their support and custom throughout this difficult year.

Please all take care and keep safe and hopefully we will be able to see you again soon.

Oxford Gloucester Green Wednesday Market update

I have just had a call from the market operator L*D today at 11.00 (the day before we should be trading) to ask if we would like to open!!

Unfortunately after being told on Friday we aren’t allowed to open I posted it on our social media to inform our customers of the decision by the operator and OCC and the post has circulated to thousands of people including our lovely regular customers, to which I would like to add we had an overwhelming response and support.

I told the operator that I think it’s too late now as our customers were all given our page details and to look for the update over the weekend to which they have and to now to be told we could trade at this late stage I felt was too late as our customers probably won’t be looking on our social media to see if there has been a change of mind and they would have now taken it as we are closed!

I’m so sorry we can’t open now and had we been told at the weekend we could open then we most certainly would have been there and it wasn’t about the money it was about supporting our customers and giving them the opportunity to come to us rather than be let down.

I hope we can see you all when we are allowed to open again after lockdown and that you all keep safe and stay well in the mean time.

CLOSED AT GLOUCESTER GREEN ON WEDNESDAYS BUT STILL OPEN AT WANTAGE ON SATURDAYS FOR LOCKDOWN.
PLEASE SEE OUR LATEST POST... THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT

I have this morning again been in conversation with Elaine Phillips at Oxford council to try and get an update on whether we can operate at Gloucester Green Market on Wednesdays throughout lockdown as we are an essential business and that we have a large following of elderly customers who fully support us and need us to open rather than them being sent indoors to stores.

I have explained to them that we can operate without the market on the square and that everything will be done professionally and COVID safe.

Elaine Phillips has ensured me that they the council and L*D markets who run Gloucester Green market will be taking this very serious and will be looking into it and will be coming back to me as soon as they have any news.

I would like to add that it was overwhelming yesterday to hear the feedback from our lovely customers and how much they appreciate us and hope that we can keep trading throughout this difficult time.
