Well good morning! I thought it was about time I broke my 6 month drought on the grid with my happy little face for the 10 or so followers I’ve gained and then lost in that time 😂

I’ve fallen into the happy acceptance that I cannot and will not post consistently on Instagram/ Facebook but just when I feel like (I’m mostly popping up (intermittently) on stories these days).

To be honest a weight has lifted since I came to the realisation that maybe social media is not the best place to dedicate my time.

Don’t get me wrong I’m still lurking in these here parts on a daily basis but when I’m working on my business, my plan is to try and build real life connections. Though since January I’ve mostly been wading through the treacle of a backlog of textile based admin, I shan’t bore you with here (I save that stuff for stories!)) but I’m getting there and as of 1am last night all my fabrics by the metre are BACK UP ONLINE!

Anyway for those who are new, hello! I’m Anna and I’m a printed textile designer. I started Jericho Design House ages ago when my son was still a baby and he’s now 6. It’s been very stop start because turns out running your own business isn’t especially profitable so I also work as a freelance designer and am lucky enough to work for every week.

During that time we’ve also renovated our house (and still not really finished) and lived through home schooling 3 kids between the age of 4 and 10.

I was tempted to pack it all in at the start of the year, but was so incredibly sad without it. I love having my own creative outlet, the connections I’ve built, and I still believe that I have a viable business if I’d only focus on one thing for 5mins! (That being my fabric by the metre business) so I’m here to stay.

Lovely news! My exhibition has been extended!!

The lovely is going to do a little rejig as it’s a bit gappy after people actually BOUGHT quite a bit of my stuff 😲 (thank you!!) but there’s still lots of things there.

It’ll be up for another 6 weeks-ish so I’m hoping to have another event this time to promote my fabrics by the metre once things are less c😑vid-y.

And if you booked a place on the lampshade workshop that was supposed to be this weekend, I’ll be in touch again soon once things feel a bit more certain!

Finally getting the chance this evening to add some of the new artworks I pulled together for the exhibition!

I was so focused on just getting everything ready for install day at the Jam Factory, that I didn't bank any time or energy for afterwards.

Luckily there has been a bit of a lag between the show going up and the 'preview' drinky thing which is on the 28th November (come!!!!)

This is my first exhibition since I graduated *ahem* 20 years ago and I’m really chuffed with how it’s come together.

It’s at The Jam Factory in the centre of Oxford until the 16th January 2022, so you can pop in any time.

In 2020 a few* things got cancelled

My 40th birthday (though to be honest I’ve never been one for parties I get too anxious that people won’t come or they’re having a s**t time) and my first exhibition at the last December - which to be honest I was also nervous that people wouldn’t come and/or would have a s**t time.

But I’m ignoring that feeling and am happy** to report that my exhibition is finally going ahead in exactly a months time beginning on the 9th November 2021.

There WILL be a little party to which you’re all invited. I will let you know exactly when soon. PLEASE come 😬

Digital printing is the reason I’m able to have this business at all - I can print exactly what I need with zero wastage.

For the mini-pouches that means perfectly sized rectangles. And it allows me to be throughly indecisive when it comes to choosing which designs to have made.

‘Dusk’ - this is a pared back version of my tropical ‘Verdure’ print in lovely tonal golden & rust tones / sea foam / neutrals.

Short and sweet tonight as my youngest is turning into a prune in the bath and I had my 2nd dose of AZ and am starting to flake 😴

Mini zip pouches are coming back! There will be some new ‘faces’ and some old favourites like this one (Dragon Floral)

I went north to the Motherland (Northumberland) this weekend and it was MAGIC 🌟 seeing and squeezing my parents, watching my kids fall back in love with their Granny & Grandad after 18 months of minimal contact, a visit to the sea side, and just hanging out in blissful normality.

Back to Oxford Tuesday afternoon in a 5.5 hour bombathon down the A1 and back home.

This happens to be one of my favourite - nearly finished - rooms in our house. I had to to fight for these green tiles and they bring me soooo much joy!

And they also tie in beautifully with my prints; a brand new wall hanging ‘Terrarium’ up on the website now, and my ‘Botanical’ fabric by the metre in the window.

2021 might only be second to 2020, to be the worst year to produce a beautiful appointment calendar 🤦🏻‍♀️

Thankfully my first batch sold well (thank you!) so I got a second printed and now I have a handful left (7 to be exact) that will not keep until next year!

You can find this beautiful house (minus the pink door and curtains in Woodstock just outside )

Anyone else a lover of second hand stuff? I put all this together yesterday to photograph my prints and only when I came to write the caption realised how much was ‘pre-loved’.

The dresser came from , the little green drawers from a 2nd hand store near my aunt in St Albans (no longer there), the kimono from an ACTUAL Japanese flea market (**clang** location name drop 😂).

And the stuff that isn’t second hand; the tequila bottle a gift from my uncle in Arizona and my framed prints (**ahem** available on my website link in my bio 😊), are things that are beautiful and sentimental to me.

It’s a lovely way to decorate a home but MAN it’s slow! Waiting for that perfect piece to turn up and make your bedroom or living room - especially when you don’t get out much - is a slow process. So it just so happens this corner of my bedroom is the only nice bit right now. I’m hoping now my kids are a bit older (my youngest just turned 5) I’ll be able to turn my attention more to finishing off the house!

Oh hi! Took a little impromptu break from posting for a while there. But as I used to say to my kids when I would leave them sobbing at the nursery door ‘I’ll always come back!’ - I’m pretty sure you haven’t cried over my absence but here I am all the same. 🤗

A short summary of what I’ve been up to while I was away...

▪️Had a hair cut - shorter than expected but getting used to it
▪️Bought some rapid brow thanks to to try and get the bushy brows of my dreams - will report back
▪️subscribed to Disney plus 12 months too late
▪️Started the with Sara from and it is GOLD so far - expect more and better sometime soon from me
▪️Working with Anthropologie keeping me super busy and loving it - will share as and when I’m allowed in stories
▪️Had a massive sort out at home (ongoing)
▪️But still haven’t been to the tip / charity shop and I CAN’T face it
▪️Tried to change website providers but realised I can’t face it
▪️Realised there’s a lot I can’t face right now and that’s ok
▪️Enjoyed hanging out with my kids before and after school and at weekend and not home schooling them
▪️made a reel about my love of tea
▪️cursed the rain!
▪️faffed about with new profile picture still don’t think it’s right

I hope you’re all ok, I’ve been a big, stressy ball of anxiety today - which has been fun. wrote a great post about this, I’ll share over on stories.

I think it’s the big stuff that’s making it hard to deal with the everyday life stuff, hopefully will be much improved by writing some lists, having a little tidy and an early night 😴
