Cup Football Saturday afternoon at the Club, with our men’s team in action against Dorchester.

Note the earlier kick off time of 1.30pm . Bar will be open from 1.30pm for anyone visiting and supporting your local team. Come along and get behind our new manager and team.

Sport update!!

Unfortunately the cricket has been cancelled today but the football pitch is holding up well, so today’s match is definitely ON!!

Kick off 2.00pm as planned , bar open throughout and afterwards

Club and bar open from 2.00pm this Saturday as we welcome Witney FC to Denton Lane for a pre season friendly , 2.00pm kick off.

Our cricketers will also be in action so we’ll have the overflow car park in operation again, so there’s no issue with street or local parking.

Details coming soon of upcoming events, including live music and dare I say it, Christmas events!!, so keep your eyes peeled!

Men’s football Tuesday night this week with kick off at 6.30pm , bar open throughout match and after.

Wednesday night our Aunt Sally team are in league action again with the bar open from 7.30pm approx onwards.

Then Saturday it’s home cricket from 1.00pm and men’s football friendly kicking off 2.00pm. The bar will be open throughout the football until 5.30pm approx.

In other sports we have our weekly table tennis sessions Wednesday 2.00pm until 4.00pm approx, then Thursday it’s the Boules Club from 4.00pm until 6.00pm approx.

So plenty of local activity going on and all at your local asset , the Garsington Sports and Social Club. Hopefully see plenty visiting again this week!

Great start to pre season for our men’s football team, ran out 6-0 winners against a useful physical Barton team.

Unfortunately this Saturdays game has already been postponed due to opposition not able to raise a team and several Garsington players having other commitments.

Busy week for the Club this week, so here's your what's on update?

Tonight, Monday 5th August our Aunt Sally team are in league action from 8.30pm (Bar open from 7.30pm)

Tuesday night our Men's Football side are playing their first pre season friendly , against Barton kick off 6.30pm with bar open throughout and afterwards.

Wednesday the Aunt Sally team are back in action, bar open from 7.30pm

Saturday 10th August it's super Saturday with Cricket taking place to the right of the Club ,from 1.00pm, and Men's Football on the main pitch versus Abingdon , kick off 2.00pm approx. The bar will be open throughout the afternoon.

This Tuesday is also the meet up of our senior citizens club, 2.00pm until 4.00pm and anyone welcome where you'll be invited to join the club as a member £5 and enjoy the chats, bingo, raffles etc.

Wednesday it's the return of table tennis after a short break, again 2.00pm until 4.00pm (£2 per player on the day)

Thursday it's Boules Club. Outside on the grass pitches, 4.00pm to 6.00pm approx. (Entry fee £2 per player. All welcome to give any of above a try and help the support of your local asset.

Caught up with the final winner of the Euro sweepstakes tonight , down at Oxford Speedway.

Handed over the winners envelope with £70 inside and was promptly handed back £30 for the Club.

So many thanks for the gesture Spence, who’s one of our Quiz regulars, much appreciated by us all !

Cricket taking place now!

The Club run a succesful pool team, who play in the Oxfordshire Landlords Invitational League.

With the winter league looming and starting early September, is anyone interested in coming along for a practice and potentially signing on?

The usual night is a Thursday evening , home and away basis, throughout the winter and in to 2025!

Please let us know of any interest and we'll confirm pre season practice nights soon.

Club is open tomorrow night (Wednesday 24th), and our wood chuckers will be on the oche perfecting their throws.

One not to miss!!

Tonight we celebrate the successes of our under 12’s 2023/24 season ⚽️ thank you to manager John and his coaching team! Up the Garsy! 💚

Sadly the Club heard the news recently of the passing of Isobel Pym. She passed sway on the 1st June after battling health issues in recent years.
Isobel was the wife of Club stalwart Mike Pym, who played football and cricket for years for Garsington.
Their sons Nick and Craig also represented the Club for years in multi sports too , so we share their loss at this sad time.

Our condolences go out to Mike, Nick, Craig and all the families, Isobel was a lovely lady who gave great support to the Club and we know she’ll be sorely missed.

The family have also released details of the funeral. The service will be at the North Oxfordshire Crematorium and Memorial Park, in Tackley, near Kidlington OX5 3ER 12.00 midday onwards then afterwards back at the Garsington Sports and Social Club. The funeral date is Tuesday July 9th.

Just a reminder the Club is open from 7.00pm tonight as we build up to the opening Euro 2024 match between Germany and Home Nation Scotland.

With the Euro’s looming ,we will be showing random games on our large projector screen, so look out for postings of when we can cover bars etc and show.

The sweepstakes are ready and your first opportunity to enter will be at tonight’s Quiz. Doors open at 6.00pm for a 6.30pm start time.

We’ll be running two sweepstakes, £5 a go cash only, with the first one being an open sweepstake , so you’ll draw a ball and that number ball will correspond to our official Club list of Euro teams, that team will then be yours to follow! Three cash prizes up for grabs!! The winner, runner up and finally the team with the worst goal difference!

The second sweepstake is the blind one. £5 a go, pick a blank envelope (with a named team inside) sign across the seal and then hand envelope back in. All these envelopes will be opened on finals day, by yourselves , or after if you’re not able to attend. We’ll eventually find who had the winners, runner up and a third prize of team with the Golden Boot winner in it!!

It’s also clashing with the midweek darts finals night, taking place down at the Cowley Workers, so good luck to all the players playing especially Vicky and Nadine who’ve made the final of the pairs competition.
