We are pleased to announce the launch of the third season of Events at Trinity – featuring a fantastic line-up of musical performances, talks and garden tours. Open to the general public as well as college and the Oxford community, the programme is designed to cater to a wide range of interests with topical speakers on fascinating topics.
In Michaelmas term we are excited to have the Chief Prosecutor of the ICC, Karim Khan, talking about the role of the court in ongoing conflicts such as Ukraine and Gaza; disaster response expert Lucy Easthope talking about the lessons learned and challenges ahead for the UK after major events from Grenfell to the Covid pandemic; and performances from one of Britain’s greatest pianists, Paul Lewis, and former BBC Young Musician of the Year Laura van der Heijden on cello.

We don't say our porters are the nicest in Oxford for nothing: Maria from the Lodge recently rescued a baby squirrel who fell out of one of our the trees - she kept it warm and safe until it could crawl back up to its mum in the tree. What a lovely community we have that look after our humans and furry residents alike! ❤️❤️❤️
Our Senior Common Room (SCR) is reopening! It's been out of commission for several years as part of our restoration work, but we have missed this cosy corner of college and are so pleased to have it back!
Our fantastic College Librarian Emma is off on maternity leave after this week - we gave her goodbye send-off and hope to meet her twins(!!) sometime in the near future. In the meantime we have a great team in place to keep the library services running with Sarah and Sophie. Best of luck Emma!!!

Fantastic news from one of our recently-graduated DPhil students: Philippe Holzhey is part of a team of researchers from University of Oxford, Monash University and City University of Hong Kong whose paper in Nature shows a breakthrough process that could make perovskite solar cells more reliable and efficient. Their paper describes a new a new process of passivation which enables perovskite solar cells to stay stable, enabling them to be more efficient for longer. The process marks a significant advancement in solar energy technology. The paper is based on the third chapter of Philippe's DPhil thesis. Well done team!

Our temporary Lawns Pavilion is finally gone, and our newly refurbished dining hall is *almost* ready to serve meals! We cannot wait to welcome every back to meals in this fantastic building! Just a few more portraits & bits of kit to install and we will be fully operational...
Our fantastic chapel choir completed a summer tour in Lyon, this summer - what a way to spend some time singing, sightseeing and soaking up the French sights! They will be back in October with a new year of services and concerts - many thanks to everyone who has supported them!
Good luck to everyone receiving their Results today! You should all be proud of what you've achieved whatever the outcome 🤞🤞 We can't wait to hear if you're (whether you are coming to Trinity or not)!
It's finally time! After way too long without our iconic front gates, they have been returned to their rightful place on Broad Street... but not without a big lorry, crane and some serious health & safety measures to get it in place. We hope everyone enjoys being able to see into college properly again - we certainly like the view from our end better!
Graduation season is upon us! Congratulations to our graduates who had their big day at the weekend - good luck on your next adventures, whether you are leaving Oxford or staying on for a further degree like our incoming MCR President Raza Nazar ! 🎓🍾🎓
We see all kinds of visitors coming through college, especially in spring and summer; this month included a group of architecture students and their teacher George Suarez Smith, who came to draw several of our buildings, including our Chapel, and shared some of the great artwork resulting from their visit!
How many of our students get to collaborate with a journalist alum to be featured on the BBC News website? Our undergraduate medic Anika Schwarze-Chintapatla is also captain of Oxford University's Cross-Country Club and discussed different track surfaces with Padraig Belton for a piece in BBC Sport about running tracks. Great work, team!

We had a special visitor in the office last week... our Chaplain's dog, Mo, came to visit and get used to being around college; hopefully we'll see a bit more of him onsite for walks this coming year!
Huge congratulations to former MCR president and general legend Kam P**n on submitting his DPhil thesis!! "Carbon Dioxide Utilisation: Unlocking Enhanced Properties for Oxygenated Polymers" details 3.5 years of research on the synthesis and development of new oxygenated plastics and elastomers from CO2 and bio-derived feedstocks. Well done Kam, we are glad you'll be hanging around Oxford a bit longer!
Look who our gardens team spotted outside one of our student accommodation properties! While insect populations are in decline across the country, we are very lucky our head gardener Kate Burtonwood and her team prioritise gardening methods and plants that encourage pollinators and other insects. See what you can spot if you're in college over the summer...
We are so very proud of our MCR member and Weidenfeld Hoffmann Scholar Sagoon Bhetwal, who has been named Weidenfeld Hoffmann Scholar of the Year! She is a fabulous ambassador for the WHT and for Trinity, and fully deserves this recognition!
Sagoon is an MSc student pursuing a degree in Comparative Social Policy from the Department of Social Policy and Intervention; you can read more about her award on the news pages of our website:

Look who has been patrolling our lawns like she owns the place! our resident v***n and her family are very comfortable greeting everyone in college, and we love seeing it!

Yesterday was our first Tortoise Tuesday of the summer with our US summer school students! Our fantastic gardens team invited students to come and meet Toby the tortoise and pick some sweet peas to brighten up their rooms. We missed our traditional tortoise race with Toby's companion Plum (who sadly died earlier in the spring), but a good time was still had by all!
It feels like lazy summer now for all our residents, human and foxes alike...! HT Maria Blanco our Spanish Fellow for this great image of foxes relaxing and playing on our lawns!
One of our academics took these fantastic images of a small white butterfly nectaring on lavender in our fabulous wildflower garden and it's too good not to share! 💜🦋🤍
This just in! We are so proud to have been awarded a Beyond Gold Award at the Oxford Green Impact awards ceremony last night! The highest level of sustainability award recognises the hard work all our teams in college have put into making Trinity a more sustainable place to live and work. Well done everyone! ♻️💚🌱
Our fantastic postgraduates held their first MCR Garden Party in college a couple weeks ago, and it was a fantastic day! karaoke music, lots of food and pimms with friends... what's not to like? Summer weather may be coming and going, but summer spirit is definitely here in Oxford!
🎤
Spot the visitor snoozing in our garden border! Our gardens team were pleasantly surprised to find one of our resident fox cubs making itself at home in our flower beds for a snooze recently; we love that they obviously feel so safe and comfortable in college! 🦊🦊🦊
It's voting day! It's a big day for voters and MPs, and it's also going to be a big night for our Politics Fellow and polling super-guru Stephen Fisher, who will be busy pulling together an exit poll and analysis for the BBC and others all night. Good luck, Steve - and don't forget to bring your ID and vote everyone!
How's this for a hump day post? One of our porters Dominic captured this image of Balliol's chapel from our front quad at night. Fantastic!

Happy July! More lovely colours in our flower meadow thanks to and her team; enjoy...
It's been a busy two days, but we are done with our June ! Roasting in the sun one day, getting blown around in the breeze the next - our student ambassadors, tutors and access team have been fantastic and met so many great students and their families. Well done all - and don't forget, if you missed this week there is still the final Open Day in September!
It's all happening today! Open Days are busy and hot, but everyone is in good spirits (the parasols and cold drinks help) - thanks to our fantastic Access team and all the student ambassadors who are making it a great day and aren't melting yet...
Happy Monday! Our pollinators are very happy in college at the moment - thanks to our Gardens team member Hannah for finding a bee whose stripes match the rose it is feeding in...!
