We're a community of around 70 keen mountaineers, hill walkers, rock climbers, boulderers.
We typically run two meets a month, with destinations all around the country and occasionally abroad. We also have our own hut, Cefn Garw, in Snowdonia, where members can stay without booking. Whether your interest lies in completing long rounds on the hills, classic mountaineering routes, or roadside cragging, you're sure to meet some like minded people amongst our membership - so why not pop alo
In a recent poll sent out by LDT 71% of people believed the name 'Sharp Edge' was ' far too aggressive'. Of the 71%, 59% have said they'd never visit the Lake District again if something wasn't done to change it.
A project has now been started for the arete to be renamed, and with excess HS2 funds the government has awarded the trust £25million to ensure a smooth transition.

A beautiful snowy Dartmoor provided an ideal base for the 2023 OMC Christmas Meet. Fun days out and hospitable evenings to follow. Greatly enjoyed by all and a fabulous end to the OMC year.
New to Oxford and have a love of the outdoors. Come and meet some like-minded people at the Oxford Mountaineering Club 1st Wednesday Social Meet.
Skills on show 😊
The OMC getting all social with a picnic and some slack lining in the park. Views over the city always worth a look.
It wasn’t even a club meet weekend, but if the sun is out, then OMCers will head for the hills!
Another bumper weekend for the climbing contingent of the club with successes on routes from V. Diff to E3 (I'm informed - Too rich for my blood). We in the OMC have often observed - The sun always shines in Pembroke.
A random selection from our recent meet based in the remote and atmospheric JMCS Hut on Skye. Some cragging, some scrambling, some big mountain days out, some curious wildlife, and some great companionship (and perhaps a tod or two of whisky).
This looks like a lovely spot. Well worth a visit 😊
In Pictures: Eryri in spring Photographer James Grant shares some of his spectacular images of Eryri, also known as Snowdonia.
The Easter weekend at our N Wales home often provides the first opportunity for OMCers to head outside to flex the fingers, strain the sinews, and massage the mojo. This year proved no exception: Hill Walking above Capel Curig and in the Moelwyns; Climbing in the Pass, the Ogwen Valley, and the Moelwyns (amongst others); Highball Boulders at Fedr Fawr; Trail Running the Nantlle Ridge. N Wales at Easter never dissapoints.

Voluntary Product Recall for the Wild Country SUPERLIGHT ROCKS.
Taking safety and product reliability as our biggest priority, we want to share this information with you thoroughly, so you know what steps to take with your Superlight Rocks.
👉 www.wildcountry.com/product-recall, is where you can find all the recall information and a Q&A.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience, and thanks for your understanding and support.
--Voluntary Superlight Rocks Recall Details --
• Hazard:
Wild Country has recently learned that when SUPERLIGHT ROCKS are exposed to maritime seaside conditions with high concentrations of salt and/or humid climate with a salty atmosphere for an extended period of time, corrosion inside of the ferrule (the swage covered in plastic that is labeled with the name of the product) can occur. This can significantly reduce the breaking strength of the chocks and may therefore become dangerous for a climber in the event of a fall from height.
• Which rocks?
ONLY Superlight rocks, which can be easily identified by the label on the tubular heat shrink, where the name of the product “SUPERLIGHT ROCK” is specified. However, the product can also be identified by the characteristic single cable wire.
NO OTHER MODELS of chocks/Rocks are involved in the recall.
• Do all Superlight Rocks need to be returned?
YES, as this corrosion process is not visible to the user and cannot be identified, we strongly recommend stopping using the Superlight Rocks immediately and following the recall instructions.
• Contact and information:
You can find information about the recall, contact services and FAQ at our link in bio.
