What is the value of Maths? 💭

You will always find takers for mathematics and its significance in life, right from your teachers all the way up to the government. However, students continue to dodge the subject, perennially questioning the usefulness of infinite equations.

When you factor in the increased difficulty level, it all adds to being a wildly unpopular option among many students.

That being said, there is a compelling argument to be made for its merits…

📖 How to encourage lifelong learning for your child

Read the article: https://tinyurl.com/3t9xhf5j

It’s incredibly important for children to develop curiosity, confidence and problem solving skills throughout their school years - habits that encourage them to learn on a daily basis, and become lifelong learners.

The rise of ‘grade hysteria’ puts pressure on parental expectations and on pupils to be at the top of the class, all to secure their academic future. This often leads to grades being prioritised over skills, and there can be a temptation to provide an overly supportive ‘hand holding’ culture which can ultimately lead to an over-dependency on tutors, and less focus on learning.

🗣 The Future of Education on Web 3, with Carl Morris

IPSEF Global 2022
📅 30 June 2022, 16:10
📍 Latymer Upper School, London

Recent reports from The Times Commission and HMC have made bold claims that our current education systems are not fit for purpose.

Rapid evolution in technology combined with the inertia of changing deep rooted education systems, have created a skills gap between what we learn in school, what employers are looking for, and the essential skills required to tackle some of the world’s most challenging and threatening problems. As the internet evolves, it creates more and more opportunities in education. As we move into a blockchain backed era, known as Web3, it presents the opportunity to harness this technology to help students take ownership of their skills and qualifications from education and beyond.

In this talk, Carl Morris, Principal at Carfax College, will discuss how we can build agile systems that adapt to an ever- changing world, using emerging technologies to better showcase student skills and talents.
