On the 80th anniversary of D-Day, may we thank these service members for their bravery and sacrifice. May we honor their heroism, which liberated a continent and saved the world. And may we recommit to the future they fought and which many died for.

Bridging between last season and the new, pre-season training is well under way to help build strength, endurance and fine tune skills, all helping to mentally prepare our players for the new season ahead. All of our coaches are working hard and thinking outside of the box to create lots of fun sessions for everyone. Keep up the great work!

Today the U12s hosted a team from Seaford.

The team from Seaford contained a number of very good players and Seaford started very strongly setting up camp in Raiders half.

Raiders were resolute, defending compactly and tenaciously and limited Seaford to only half chances despite their superior posession.

Raiders also looked dangerous on the counter especially through the pace of Lewis.

Seaford pressure finally told with a neat finish after they finally got behind our defence.

Seaford continued to press and a slick move saw Seaford go 2 up with a great finish from the edge of the box.

Raiders heads did not drop and continued to work hard and started to pose our visitors some problems as the game became more even.

Lewis managed to get behind the Seaford defence but a clear grab from the defender denied Raiders the chance to get one back.

Undeterred Raiders pushed forward and were awarded a stonewall penalty after a clumsy lunge by a Seaford defender.

After some rock paper scissors to decide who was taking the Pen. Lewis stepped up and slotted in cooly to the keepers right to put Raiders right in the game heading in to half time.

Coming out for the second half the Raiders were galvanised.

Seaford started to struggle to get out of their half and Raiders started to calve out opportunities running behind the Seaford defence that just needed a little more composure.

Seaford still threatened but the defensive unit held firm with Toby and Riley forming a formidable partnership and when called on Ray made a couple of sharp saves in goal.

As the game entered the last quarter Raiders won a corner. Despite scuffing the corner, Raiders reacted brilliantly which saw Jenson score with a very good instinctive finish to put Raiders level.

Raiders kept pushing and nearly sealed a remarkable victory on the break with Ben releasing Lewis who ran through under immense pressure from the Seaford centre back and narrowly fired wide.

The match finished 2 - 2 but after being 2 down facing some very gifted players this was a result that the team should be very proud of.

A performance built on hard work and a bucket load of character. A great team performance.

As such we struggled to pick a man of the match so that accolade was shared by 3 this week, namely Toby' Jenson and Lewis who were all immense.

A great start to the bank holiday weekend and a team we are very proud of.

With much excitement we would like to share the amazing goals we have invested in which is hugely down to our generous sponsor Fix Gearbox Repair and the Football Foundation. Another thanks goes out to those that organised and supported our big raffle we held at Christmas and all those that donated to our go fund me appeal. This was a very costly investment and all of the above went towards it. We would also like to send out a massive thanks to the coaches and parents that gave their time to help build them. These are a wonderful asset for the club and it’s players to have and we are already enjoying the benefits of having them! Thank you!

Today saw U13’s Raiders play in their final game of the season against Rottingdean who were a very good side in their last meet, winning 5-0 in a Raider’s defeat. Raider’s were in good spirits as they set in formation ready for the game ahead of them.

They were off! A fiery start and it was clear to see both sides wanted the win, close chances being created both ends of the pitch within the first five minutes! Play continued in end to end football with Raiders defence impenetrable until Rottingdean eventually broke through with a single runner and scored their first goal. Raiders came back, holding good possession from which Martim released Bobby with a lovely throughball. Bobby managed to out run the opposition and it was a 50/50 race between him and the keeper getting the ball. Rottingdeans keeper bravely gambled on sliding in for the ball as Bobby was about half a foot away and won possession before Raiders could get a result. Outstanding efforts came from the whole team in a very exciting half but it ended as 0-2 to Rottingdean. The second half was very much like the first with the Raiders playing into the wind this time which had picked up some. A patch of scrappy play came, which rewarded Rottingdean with 2 free kicks in a row outside the box but this was a piece of cake for Raiders second half keeper, Charlie who saved the first with style and saw it out wide with the second. The boys persevered winning corners, free kicks and creating chances but with ten minutes left on the clock they conceded a third goal and couldn’t quite clinch their own point for the score board with the game finishing 0-3 to Rottingdean. An improvement on the score in their last meet and amazing efforts and team work from all the boys.

A special mention to Louis who played his first ever role as right back, absolutely bossing it and winning himself MOM today!

This team have made vast improvements this season and play with great resilience and respect. We look forward to seeing what they bring next year. Up the Raiders!

Today the U12s hosted Crawley Down Anvils in their first match for a few weeks.

Whilst Raiders were expected to be a little rusty the writing was on the wall very early after conceding a scrappy goal in less than a minute.

To Raiders credit their heads didn't drop and they immediately set about getting back in to the game.

Raiders started moving the ball well as they took control in the middle of the pitch with Crawley Down struggling to cope with the the pace of Lewis, Vinny and Olly who were being found constantly by Ben, Brogan and Jenson.

Raiders spurned a number of chances falling to Vinny and Lewis as Raiders kept getting in behind the Crawley defence.

Finally Raiders got their equaliser with Lewis running through and squeezing one home after some great work from Ben.

Vinny then nearly gave the Raiders the lead with a crisp strike that the Crawley Down keeper miraculously kept out with his fingertips.

Shortly after Vinny finally got on the scoresheet slotting neatly in after getting clear of the opposing defence again and then nearly had a third when Lewis sensationally ran three quarters of the pitch beating three men before whipping in a great ball which Raiders narrowly failed to flick home.

Raiders went in to the break 2-1 up in what was one of their most complete halves of the season.

The message was more of the same in the second half.

However Crawley Down came out much sharper second half and started pinning Raiders in their own half.

Despite having territory Crawley down were struggling to break down a very hard working Raiders team with the back line repelling everything that came at them and Stan not seriously challenged in goal.

Raiders still looked dangerous on the break and broke a couple of times but could not find a goal to seal the win.

The last 5 minutes were played exclusively in the Raiders half with Raiders winning tackle after tackle. block after block to preserve their lead.

Finally the whistle was blown to call time on a great game against two very well matched teams.

A superb performance from the team which made the call for man of the match the most difficult choice of the year. Eventually it was decided that Ben and Sasha were joint players of the match due to some heroic defensive work in the last 10 minutes, but in reality they all deserved immense credit for how they applied themselves.

Fantastic work guys!

The First Team bought us some home football this weekend after a month out and it saw them hosting a physical side, Associates FC.

It was a slow start for the lads who found themselves 0-2 down before making the most crucial substitute of the game bringing Nathan Woolgar on. The lads found some composure and continued to build momentum which saw Nathan pulling back two points for the Raiders bringing them into a 2-2 draw at half time.

Both teams came back with end to end football and it wasn’t long before Associates scored themselves a third goal, to which the Raiders responded with Jack McLean’s equaliser. The Raiders continued to battle but their gap in games showed seeing them concede 3 more goals.

It was a tough return for the Raiders as the visitors eventually sealed their win in a 3-6 victory. A tough battle on a cold Sunday morning.

On to the next! UTR 💚

27/11/2023

Today saw the lads travel to Hollingbury hawks in an important clash near the bottom of the table, the boys started the game well pushing hawks back and started by being on the front foot. Hawks had the best of chances in the first half but they never troubled Jenson who was covering the absent Henry.

The boys started growing into the game as the half went on craving out some chances and putting the Hollingbury keeper under pressure, Issac went close when chasing down a back pass, only missing narrowly past the post, however hawks hit back by grabbing a goal just before the half time whistle to put them 1-0 at half time.

The half time team talk was a positive one where the boys were told to just keep being positive and keep pushing forward where the chances will come.

The second half started and the boys started on the front foot putting Hollingbury back line under pressure and creating chances, there were no real clear chances for any team until half way through the game turned into a bit of pinball around the hawks box. Kayden reacted fastest to make it 1-1! The momentum then swung back to hawks where they were searching for a winner. They came close with a couple of chances however not one of them affected Jenson in the raiders goal. The last chance of the game fell in favour of hawks when their striker went racing through but was amazingly caught by super captain Ellis who made a great recovery tackle to deny him a clear chance (not the first time this game). The game ended 1-1 where the boys have picked up their first point of the season and showed how well they can do in a very excited game.

This weeks game was hard to pick one man of the match so we all decided there were 3 stand out players which were Jenson, Kayden, and captain Ellis in his first game back after 6 weeks out injured.

Well done Raiders!

Photos from Telscombe Raiders FC's post 22/11/2023

This Sunday saw our U13’s set off in what was to be a very tough test against a well drilled team sitting at the top end of the table, Southdown Rovers. The Raiders have been working really hard in training and on integrating all of their new team members so this was to be even more of a test as many of the squad had not played many games together, if any. The last meet against Southdown Rovers saw a double figured defeat and the players were well aware of this.

The whistle blew and the Raiders came out firing on all cylinders. Southdown Rovers were looking the threat they were expected to be but the Raiders put out a gallant effort and managed to keep the score at a level 0-0 for the most part of the first half. Southdown Rovers were beginning to look agitated as this clearly wasn’t the match they had expected to be met with and they had a few unlucky misses for what were a great few shots on goal. The Raiders were reacting to everything they were coming up against and managing to push back to create some good chances in the box but to no prevail. The first half ended 1-0 to Southdown Rovers after a display of exceptional goal keeping from our keeper and some determined runs and working the ball forward between Louis, Kaiden, Isaac, and Jayden.

The second half loomed and the Raiders were very positive in the half time team chat. The boys were ready for what was another explosive display of football. Robbie continued to create problems for the opponent forcing them to use the wings where our defenders Jayden and Harry worked hard to break down their attacks and continued to make it exceedingly difficult for Southdown Rovers. A free kick was won for Southdown Rovers and they scored from an incredible goal that curled into the bottom left corner. A goal that was difficult for any keeper to save and unfortunately the result of a lapse in defending the back post. The Raiders were on the break again with Louis, Isaac and Jayden pushing forward and Cassius holding prime position patiently for his run on to the perfect ball but it was put out by the opponents defence for a corner. The ball fell beautifully from the corner into the box, finding Robbie who just couldn’t turn his body quickly enough to get the right angle for his volley and unfortunately The Raiders were still yet put something on the scoreboard.

The play continued in end to end football and the Raiders continued to battle hard to the very end in what ended as a defeat but a very respectable one against a top team. Man of the Match went to Robbie for putting out a top performance in a brand new position for him in midfield.

The character and composure the boys showed in this game was something to be proud of and they received some really good feedback on how far they have come as a team. If they continue to grow and play like this every week they are sure to start seeing the results they are working hard for. Well done Raiders 💪

21/11/2023

The U12s completed their double game weekend with a long trip over to Hastings to play a league match v Diversity and Skill.

Last time we played the opponent Diversity ran out narrow victors in a close match so we travelled with anticipation of another cracker.

Raiders began well with Vinny proving a real handful up front with his strength and direct running. Raiders got in behind on a couple of occasions but wasted some glorious chances to take the lead.

Lewis then got put through and streaked past his defender only for the keeper to make another good save ...this time though Lewis reacted quickly to tuck away the rebound.

Shortly after Telscombe broke again and Vinny went one on one with the keeper. This time Vinny passed the ball in to the back of the net for a cool finish to put Raiders 2 up.

Diversity continued to push forward but Riley, Max and Vass defended incredibly well, winning the ball and then playing forwards so we could counter.

One such counter saw the ball break to Alwyn who scored with a really neat finish to put us 3 up and in dreamland.

Reality nearly hit home when a defensive mix up nearly saw us gift Diversity a goal ...but some last ditch defending and some great keeping from Ray kept them at bay and saw us go in to half time 3-0 up.

The second half saw them sent out with the
message of keep doing exactly what you have been doing.

Largely they did and continued to be the more threatening team although there was an element of goal chasing as Raiders were trying to add to their tally.

However whilst Diversity broke on a number of occasions Ben shielded the defence brilliantly and the defence remained intact with Ray forced in to a couple of flying saves.

With Raiders trying to kill off the game we won a corner that Drew fired in close to the keeper and in the melee it saw the ball turned in to their own net rather unfortunately.

The game finished end to end with chances at both ends but Raiders managed to grab their 5th with another unlucky own goal which was the result of another wicked cross from Drew on his return after injury.

Vinny was man of the match for living up to his 'tank' nickname with a performance full of strength and power.

A great weekend for the raiders with 11 goals and two wins, including only a second ever league win.

As a developing team these weekends don't come along very often and mean so much to the players and parents as they see tangible results from their hard work in training and persistence.

A weekend to remember for the U12s creating lasting memories. We are very proud of all of them.

20/11/2023

The U12s were out this morning against Seaford for a development match after we finally beat the weather.

Whilst the conditions were challenging, the U12s played some nice football all morning as they showed an excellent attitude.

Raiders started on the front foot with Declan causing problems on the left and Sonny linking up well again with Luca on the right.

In what looked like being a frustrating morning Raiders got in to a number of great positions but couldn't squeeze the ball home.

Seaford countered well but every time they broke through the defence held firm with Woody in particular making a few goal saving interventions.

As we entered the last quarter of the half, Declan ran at the defence and was tripped in the area to give us a chance to open our account from the penalty spot. Declan stepped up but the keeper made a good save and we remained goalless.

Not undeterred, Raiders kept moving forwards and finally Sonny tucked home at the back post as the ball came across from the left.

One became two moments later when Jenson drove a 35 yard free kick through the crowd and in to the corner of the net.

The goal scoring didn't stop there as Seaford broke the offside trap and pulled one back just before half time to make it 2-1 at the break, after a frantic end to the half.

The second half proved to be a lot more open with both teams losing a little shape as it became a little stretched. Scoring the next goal became vital as both teams pushed forwards.

After a few scary moments at each end, Raiders finally got the third, with a neat finish from Ethan.

That goal seemed to tip the balance and shortly after Ben smashed home a loose ball in the box and then Vinny added to the tally by reacting well after good work on the right.

Seaford to their credit still kept going and got a deserved goal back after another break.

Seaford still pushed forwards afterwards but the defence held firm with Jamie putting in a couple of great tackles to keep Seaford at bay.

As the game entered the final few minutes Declan put the icing on the cake, finally scoring after a number of close efforts that sealed the result.

A really well contested match ...but in all honesty it was just nice to see them playing again.

Man of the match went to Sonny who scored our opener and put quality crosses in to the box all match.

And also special mention to Vass who found the wet ground to his liking with some pretty awesome sliding challenges.

Well done team!
