VACANCY - Casual Funeral Service Operative

We are looking for casual funeral service operatives to join our team, to help in providing a high level of service and care to the families we care for, from both our funeral homes in Penrith & Appleby. The main duties for this role are:

- To assist on funerals, both driving and pall bearing. A full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
- To be part of our 24 hour on call rota on a shared basis, bringing families loved ones into our care from the place of death and on behalf of HM Coroner. This requires someone to be available on a fairly flexible basis. This can involve heavy lifting and therefore requires someone with a reasonable level of fitness.

This role requires someone of a calm, professional and caring demeanour, and of a smart appearance. Due to the sensitive nature of the service we provide, strict adherence to confidentiality at all times is essential due to the trust a bereaved family rightly places in us.

This position is offered on a strictly as and when needed basis (zero hours) and as such may not be suitable for those seeking permanent part or full time positions. Due to the flexibility required for this role, it can be very suitable for those who are retired/semi retired and have the above qualities.

This month marks 10 years since Peter Messenger, part of the second generation of Walkers, passed away. Peter, along with his wife Eileen (nee Walker), dedicated nearly 50 years to the family firm, caring for families in the Eden area and beyond, before his sudden passing in 2014. Peter in his time as a Funeral Director, helped countless families say goodbye to their loved ones, committing his entire working life to serving the community.

Social Media Funeral Live stream Scam's. (Please share this important information to avoid you or a friend being scammed)

In the last 12 months there is a noted increase in the number of scams circulating on Facebook and other social media, whereby scammers are sending friend requests, using information already in the public domain, to create false profiles. The result being they ask you to enter your card details to watch a funeral live stream, which is of course a scam. Please note this does not mean they have hacked any profiles, they are just copying information already circulating in the public domain.

Login details of any live web cast of funerals anywhere, are never public knowledge and this is passed to the family to confidentially pass on to whom they wish.

You will NEVER be asked to enter your card details to watch any live stream of a funeral. You will NEVER be individually charged.

If you receive any friend request regarding a funeral of someone you know, it is a scam and the only thing you can do is report the profile to Facebook.
