Can I just remind everyone that September is a 5 week month. So, no patchwork club on Monday.
Next patchwork club meeting is 7 October (gosh, where has the year gone).
Starting another pile of cardboard inners. Anybody like some?
Sorry for the delay in uploading these. The couple of weeks after the exhibition were a bit of a whirlwind.
I’d like to thank my amazing ladies who helped with the exhibition. My “usual sidekick/mastermind” was unfortunately ill, but I was overwhelmed with the amount of help that I received. Ladies you know who you are and you are all quite wonderful.
We raised £2500 from the exhibition, charity tin, and my “head shave”. TCCL (Tayside Children with Cancer and Leukaemia), were very happy with the donation and the arm full of quilts they were able to take away for their home.
Below is the start of one of the quilts that we made yesterday. We were so busy sewing, pressing and cutting, that I forgot to take photos-oops.
So at the end of 6 hours, we had one single bed quilt top completed, but we decided to add borders. We also had the blocks made to make 6 other single quilts, but there was then a decision made to make double quilts….. except Susan who had always said she was going to make a cot quilt. I think the other 2 blocks she was planning would probably give her 2 cot quilts. So photos to follow, when the big quilts are done……
Wow, that was an amazing class today. Every ones energy was fantastic and I can’t wait to see the finished quilt.
Requirement list for Sunday:
2 1/4 m of background fabric

12 1/2” square ruler (if you have one)
Mug
Packed lunch
Sharp pencil
10-4 West Carse Public Hall
Can mybeginners remember to bring their sewing machines tomorrow please?
Since I sent the fabric requirements to my students on Sunday, ive been asked the difference between and fat and long quarter. These are American measurement, but hopefully you can see the difference. Same amount of fabric, just cut in a different way. For the pattern this weekend, a long quarter is better.

Detail of the “butterfly” design from yesterday. I never thought when I started the business over 20 years ago, that I’d be able to produce something like this, in the shop.
The new shelving in the teaching area is going up tonight. The place is looking very, very different.
The shop is still “a work in progress”. But wow, what progress we’ve made. The long arm is now in its new position in the shop and we’ve started to work on quilting using the pantographs. This has been so much hard work, but we managed to quilt 3 of the charity quilts over the last few days and have another one in the frame as we speak. The pantograph is a real game changer as we’re getting stunning, even designs and I feel it’s lifting our work to another level.
Patchwork club starts back Monday 2 September. 7-9, West Carse Public Hall.
First and third Monday of the month, £40 for the year and £1 per night for teas/coffees.
We will have the big tables up for layering and trimming every week.
It is such good fun. Beginners welcome. Under 18s welcome if accompanied by an adult.
Below are some of the quilts made from the packs handed out at the last meeting. I’m quite excited to see what people have made over the summer…..
Lots happening next weekend.
We have our “rabbit day” next Sunday, 1 September 11-5.
