Exciting News! We’ve just started developing our new set of HMOs in Peterborough which are completely benefit sustainable and affordable. We’re working with a single family office for sourcing the investment for these properties - on the single basis they allow us to rent these properties out at LHA rates. It took over 12 months to conclude these commercial arrangements but we’re finally there. This one is due to go live in mid March
It’s been such a busy weekend - thank you to all of our volunteers who stepped in. We can’t wait to welcome our first new tenants next week #asylumseekers #care #renovation
We need to start posting more! It’s been such a busy few months with so much going on - check out this transformation for one of our asylum seeker properties in Peterborough
The not so glamorous side to what we do. Due to the impact of Covid-19 there is a real shortage of materials and price increases has seriously affected the construction industry. It’s tough getting these properties off the line - this particular one has had contractors in for the last 8 months. We’ve struggled to get timber, steel and paint due to the unprecedented levels of demand. It all comes at a cost too. Our SME builders have struggled to purchase essential materials due to nearly 8% increase in material prices. Additionally, more than 70,000 households have been made homeless since the start of the pandemic with tens of thousands threatened with homelessness. It’s a very very difficult situation to balance. The Fellowship are pressing ahead in what are incredibly difficult times to operate in. Alas, we can’t wait to welcome our first tenants in this new HMO. I imagine our new tenants won’t know the struggles we’ve had to go through to get this over the line, but that’s ok, they’ve got enough baggage of their own. As long as they’re happy and can call this place a home - no one can put a price on that. We have a moral responsibility to deliver, and we will deliver homes with a heartbeat at all costs. “Look how many people have come to the Fellowship that were on drugs and hard up - they’ve now got jobs and living a happy life”
Thank you to everyone who is supporting us. It was only at today’s accountability meeting with Peterborough City Council did the numbers really sink in… In 24 weeks - 3 of our tenants have moved on and found jobs - 15 tenants now housed - that’s 15 fewer people rough sleeping or in temporary accommodation in Peterborough. 15 tenants now installed with some hope for the future. Thank you to all the multi agency entities and the Council for their continued support. #peterborough #supportedhousing

We have found at the Fellowship that anxiety, depression and addictions respond well to art therapy. The tenants that we support find that this creative self expression has therapeutic value which then opens the door for changes to occur in their lives #supportedhousing
