All our individual donors, there are far too many of you to mention by name but please know we appreciate each and every one of you!
All our who have liked and shared our posts to spread the word of our event, your contribution is so important for us in raising awareness and reaching more people who can be involved!
All our new volunteers who have chosen to spend their evenings, weekends and time off preparing the best possible for our guests!
Thank you β€οΈ
Massive thanks to John Lewis & Partners and Waitrose & Partners for the very generous hamper donations picked up by some of our volunteers this week!
This year has been a wild ride of referrals and donations, volunteers and shopping! It's very nearly the main event and we can't wait to see our guests on !
There are 34 Christmas Dinners for care leavers between 18 and 25 years old. There are thousands and thousands of people who have contributed to the food, presents, volunteering, taxis, venues and organisation.
John lewis & Waitrose have given us thousands and thousands of food items for the take away hampers for each and every guest so that when they go home after the dinner they take a hamper of Christmas love with them.
Hundreds of quilt makers have made a bespoke quilt for every single care leaver. They start making them in January. They formed a company called Quilts for Care Leavers. All the dinners are independently organised by steering groups which have been meeting throughout winter to organised this one single special Christmas Day. It is all voluntary, all the power of community.
The dinners take place on Christmas Day with food and presents for each and every one, plus a taxi which picks them up from their home and drops them off at home. It is the tenth year since the first dinner in Manchester.
My personal mission regarding Christmas Dinners has been to make a nation aware of the care leaver on Christmas Day. Over the previous ten years we have done that. Today besides The Chritmas Dinners there are charitable organisations and individual campaigns for children in care at Christmas which are a direct result of the work of The Christmas Dinners.
The Christmas Dinners are for care leavers who feel alone on Christmas Day. Our aim is to create a positive memory. The Dinners are successful because of the attention to detail as exemplified in the How To Guide which you can find at The Gold From The Stone Website.

Merry Christmas to every single volunteer over the past ten years, you gorgeous incredible people. Next year I want Hackney back, I want Oxford and Cambridge. Where else in the UK would you like there to be a Christmas Dinner for Care Leavers? And would you like to join a steering group in September 2024. It's a lot of fun. Each Dinner is independent. Great friendships have been made in the steering groups and even a marriage. Let me know and I will build the list. Merry Christmas to every one. Merry Christmas.

We asked some of last years guests what they would appreciate in their hampers this year and their feedback (other than how awesome last years hampers were) was that household cleaning products would be super helpful.
Armed with that info we reached out to eco friendly brands to see if they might be able to help. OceanSaver came through with a really generous donation of 35 of their antibacterial surface spray bottles which arrived today!
Thank you to the team at Ocean Saver β€οΈππ
