Mindful Movement with Becca
Yoga instructor, GP referral & specialist populations PT & L4 Nutrition. I help people to age strong.
Back at it this week after a lovely week off to enjoy the last of the sunshine. ☀️
Very pleased to come back to this wonderful review from one of the students I mentor in my tutoring role.
Something I have always prided myself on is ensuring everything that I do is accessible to everyone. This learner worked hard despite challenging circumstances and client changes and has a bright future ahead of him.
It’s true what they say, when you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life 🫶
🌼 Hey Friends and Clients 🌼
I want to take a moment to talk about something really important—mental health. I know it can be tough to open up about, but I’m here to remind you that we have an incredible resource right in our own backyard!
If you haven’t heard of ‘Don’t Lose Hope’ yet, let me introduce you to this amazing team! They run a cozy café and garden space in the Bourne area that’s open to everyone. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, creating a warm atmosphere for anyone who walks through the door. The cakes good too! 😋☕🌿
But here’s the best part: in the back, they have private counseling rooms with services priced according to your earnings. That means everyone can have access to the mental health support they need—how wonderful is that? 🫶
Whether you’re facing some challenges right now or just want to support a great cause, I encourage you to pop in next time you’re around. Say hello, grab a coffee, or check out their shop for some lovely gifts—all proceeds go back into helping those in need.
This isn’t a paid promo; just a heartfelt shoutout to a group that’s doing incredible work. Remember, life is all about the lens we choose to see through. Let’s make it a positive one together! 🥰🤗
🌿 Let’s Talk Balance!🌿
Something that often gets overlooked in our fitness routines is the ability to balance on one leg. I know, it sounds simple, but trust me, it’s so much more than just standing still!
When you practice this exercise, you’re not just working on your strength; you’re also tuning in to your body in a way that brings awareness and calm. It’s a moment to pause, breathe, and really feel your connection to the ground beneath you. 🧘♀️✨
I’d love to see you all share your favorite standing balance poses and how they make you feel. Remember, it’s all about progress, not perfection! 💚
In our journey towards a better quality of life, the farmer’s carry stands out as an incredible exercise, especially for our older adult community. 🧡
This functional movement not only mimics everyday activities, like carrying shopping bags, but also enhances strength, stability, and balance—key elements for maintaining independence. As we age, it’s essential to focus on core stability, and this exercise does just that while improving posture and grip strength.
By engaging multiple muscle groups, it promotes coordination and mental focus, reminding us to be present in our bodies🚶🏼♀️➡️. Plus, it’s adaptable making it accessible for everyone. A regular addition in my programmes!
Give it a try, let me know what you think ☺️
Meds vs. Nutrition – Finding Your Balance!
Hey everyone! 👋🏻
I often get asked whether to rely on medication or focus solely on nutrition and exercise for healing. My answer? It's all about making informed lifestyle changes that promote movement and whole food sources! 🍏💪
Recently, a client questioned the necessity of statins, so I dove into research and had a chat with a GP. His take? Statins save lives! But here’s the kicker: not everyone needs them. The prescription should be tailored to the individual, rather than a blanket recommendation. While guidelines suggest that every man over 50 should be on them, many can thrive without.
So, here’s my advice: always tune in to what feels right for your body. Gather all the information, ask the tough questions, and make a decision that’s balanced for YOU. Remember, it doesn't have to be an either/or situation. Nutrition and meds can work hand in hand for those with medical conditions or high cholesterol.
Stay informed, stay healthy! 🥗💖
Reflection a something I still have to remind myself to do when it comes to my career but today as I pause and reflect on the past year I feel truly blessed. After the studio I used to teach at closed its doors I changed direction moving more towards chair based exercise and specialist clients. I had no idea how it would go or if it would grow and for the first few months we had just 5 determined and committed clients. Fast forward a year and we now have our own space. 4 classes each week and a whopping 50 members! The community has not only grown but they’ve also progressed to chair fitness incorporating more strength and movement into their training alongside the yoga. Today I celebrate them! Every day they inspire me and I am proud to have been a part of their journey. 🫶 Whilst yoga is a still full with a waitlist, we do have some chair fit spaces for anyone who might like to join our friendly community. The classes run on a Tuesday at 10am and Thursday at 12:45pm.
Not all hunger is the same and it can be difficult to understand the difference between ‘Emotional vs. Physical’
🤔 Before you grab that snack, let’s pause and think: Is it *real* hunger or just a craving?
🔍 Emotional Hunger often sneaks up on us! It can be triggered by stress, boredom, or even loneliness. Here are some signs:
- Eating when you’re not physically hungry
- Craving specific comfort foods
- Feeling guilt or shame after eating
💪 Physical Hunger however, is your body’s way of saying, “I need fuel!” It comes on gradually and can be satisfied with a variety of foods. Watch for these signs:
- A rumbling stomach
- Low energy or fatigue
- Difficulty concentrating
It’s perfectly okay to experience both types of hunger! Acknowledge your feelings and choose nourishing options that support your well-being.
If you find yourself struggling with your relationship with food, often craving specific items or eating despite feeling full, here are some mindful methods to try:
Delay: Put off eating your desired food for just 5 minutes. If you still want it after that, it’ll still be there! Often, giving your body time to adjust can quiet those hunger cues.
Distract: Shift your focus! If your hunger is boredom-related (and let’s be honest, we’ve all reached for snacks after a long day), engage in another activity—take a walk, read a book, or tidy up around the house.
Decide: If you still crave that food, ask yourself: If it were something simple like a piece of toast, would you still want it? If the answer is no, it’s likely you’re not hungry; you might be emotionally eating.
✨ Let’s take a moment to listen to our bodies and nurture them with love! We’re all on this journey together! ✨

🌟 As a new week unfolds, so does an exciting new chapter in my career! Reflecting on the past 8 years, I feel incredibly grateful for the amazing people I’ve met along the way and the roles we’ve played in each other’s journeys. Those who know me best understand that I’m not one to settle; I thrive on pushing my boundaries and learning more. After all, when your passion can support others, why wouldn’t you dive deeper?
I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be joining the wonderful team at Oundle! Having taught here on and off since their doors opened, I can vouch for the warmth of the team and community. I’m eager to grow my skills as a GP referral specialist.

🌅✨ Rise and shine in nature! 🌿
Thank you to everyone who joined this morning’s yoga session. Our sequence today was inspired by the water element, and it felt like we were truly in harmony with Mother Earth as gentle raindrops graced us towards the end. 🌧️💧
As you move through your week, take with you the teachings of today’s session. Just as water stays true, moving from water to ice, then ice to water, so too do you, always coming back to your true self.
Feeling grateful for this beautiful experience and the wonderful energy you all brought. Namaste. 🙏❤️
For those who asked about weekday classes, I no longer practice these regularly however do keep an eye out for my workshops which I run throughout the year.
and both have community classes locally. Give them a follow 🫶
Chair yogis, what do you think? Shall I add this in today? 😉
For the last 3 years alongside my yoga and private work I have been working as a training consultant supporting the next generation of Personal Trainers and fitness professionals in achieving their qualifications.
This is a role I have wholeheartedly enjoyed and will be sad to say goodbye to but today I handed my notice in ready to embark on a new adventure.
My passion is and always has been to help people and by getting back out into the community I hope to do this on a wider scale.
Yoga corner 🧘🏻♀️ it’s been wonderful to see all the kids getting involved today.
By making the experience more interactive for them giving them autonomy over the poses even the most sceptical have given it a try.
