☀️ We’ve been extremely busy since the sun decided to make an appearance 👏🏼

🔨 An old lean-to demolished in Werrington and replaced with a timber framed, UPVC cladded utility room

🪚 And in Godmanchester, another one of our awesome timber decks and pergola with polycarbonate roof.

🗓️ Our summer diary is now full but we are still taking quotes and bookings for September and towards the end of the year so please do not hesitate to get in touch!

Real ✅ or Artificial 🚫 ?

🍃 Personally, it’s artificial for me!

🤝🏼 So we may not have got the contract for the patio (which I am not sore about because the contractor who carried out the works has smashed it out the park with this awesome porcelain job)

⚒️ We were however, asked to carry out the works of removing the existing turf and lay this lush artificial lawn.

🪨 4.5 tonne of 20mm clean limestone with a screed of 6mm granno dust 👏🏼

😮‍💨 Busy couple of weeks 👌🏼

🪚 Timber doors to an external outbuilding removed and replaced with new. Hand built with tanalised timbers, new furniture and code entry lock 🗝️

🔨 Removed existing plasterboard on the walls to this dormer bedroom as customer was complaining of cold and damp. No wonder, probably 50mm of mineral wool which had perished anyway. We have installed 150mm PIR and 270mm of loft roll. Re boarded and then skimmed by Steve 👏🏼

😻 Fresh lick of paint on a lovely lady’s mobile home in Peterborough

🔨 All other works including French door installation, insulation and stud work, dry lining and second fix decorating.

🪚 Our lovely customers had a vision in their heads about how they wanted their new space to look.
🛠️ We have built this bespoke office space complete with herringbone flooring, solid oak desk and hand crafted shelving and storage cupboards complete with glass display cabinets.
🎨 All hand painted and finished by us.

🧰 We have also left a small area to the front of the garage for storage of bikes, tools and other items. This has been fire boarded and had a loft hatch and ladder installed too.

👷🏼 Fully project managed from initial visit right up to completion.

✌🏼 Couple of jobs completed last week in between our project in Brampton…

🛁 First of all, we removed existing and re-tiled this bathroom in Peterborough.
🤟🏼Some awesome tiles chosen and our customer has since redecorated, bringing a more modern and relaxed feel to the bathroom.
🪚 Then after a rough sketch from our customer of what she was after, we came up with this bespoke, built in utility storage cupboard.
🧺 Enclosing the boiler and the appliances, and creating a small worktop space has really changed this room!

🧱 My brickies made a hole, toothed in all their bricks and installed a lintel 👏🏼
💧We installed these awesome anthracite French doors in said hole, they include these awesome side windows which will flood this new room with natural light
🪚Myself and Rob have insulated the floor and laid P5 boards…
🔨 Studded, insulated and boarded the ceiling and walls
🔌 Josh has thrown in his cables for all the new spots, sockets and heaters
🪜 We’re ready for Steve now, to skim the room and leave it ready for us on second fix 👌🏼

👷🏼‍♂️Fully project managed from day 1, you’re in safe hands with us. This garage conversion in Brampton is coming along nicely and we look forward to second fix in 10 days ☺️

Couple of bits from last week…

🪚 Timber pergola erected over this outdoor kitchen for our customers in Kimbolton. Complete with 2 enclosed, cladded sides, felt shingle roof and guttering into a new water butt💧
🔨 Rob made a cracking job of this windowsill over in Bedford, taken up most of the day by a German Shephard on lookout🐺 they wanted something a bit more hard wearing!
🧱 Then over in Brampton, Matt and the boys left us with a big hole ready for a beautiful set of anthracite french doors, all in preparation for another garage conversion! Stay tuned👏🏼

☀️🍯 Sunny Hunny, didn’t quite live up to the name weather wise…

🥶 But the transformation on this flat, is incredible!

➡️ Our customer recently purchased this flat as a seaside holiday home and the possibility of an air bnb in the future.
They came at us with a budget and a few ideas and left the rest up to us!
⏳ After being empty for almost 2 years, the first thing we did was rip everything out to a bare shell, including the stud wall between the living area and kitchen, creating what has turned out to be an amazing open plan living area 😍
🪚 With new underlay and flooring throughout, new fire doors and new kitchen. As well as a whole new bathroom suite in a new lay out and a good lick of paint everywhere, this flat has a whole new lease of life💐

I cannot thank everyone who helped out on this project, enough for all their hard work and long days to get this over the line 👏🏼 It’s been a blast and one of our best projects to date!

🏠 Here’s something we’ve been up to this week alongside an ongoing project!

🪚 Mock Tudor timber beams were rotten and causing water ingress into the house. With the flashing replaced, sealed and new timbers applied and painted. This is now pukka for another 25 years!

🏖️ We are also going to be sharing some progress pictures from our seaside project that started this week, keep your eyes peeled.

Running a business is really hard.

What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid back people.

People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.

Friends and family will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.

You have to worry about if you forget to email/message or call someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages, emails and phone calls.

Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner... All while being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend... it’s one of the hardest things you will try and balance. If you give your time, you will sacrifice financial benefit. If you strive for financial benefit, you will have to sacrifice your time. It’s just the way it goes when your business is relying on you to survive and you’re relying on your business to provide!

There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.

Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient, support small businesses... and hopefully more of us will stick around!

👊🏼 Awesome job this one! Our lovely customer wanted to do away with the old crumbing brick wall and make their driveway wider for better parking🚗 As well as the old wall, we also removed lots of trees 🌳 and an old metal fence! We have erected this 10 metre long sleeper retaining wall with solar lights set into the top, along with a picket fence to match their back garden. 2 tonne of fresh top soil for some new plants and trees and also a lovely new timber bin store! 😊 Low maintenance front garden now with lots of parking.
