New NIC rates effective 6 January

That's right, during the autumn statement it was announced that National Insurance contributions would be cut from 12% to 10%. That takes effect from 6 January.

Leaving the office in capable hands today while I exchange my desk for a mobile office. Meetings in London today to meet up with our colleagues at Husky Finance, and later to meet up with volunteers at Multitrack to see what exciting projects they have coming up this year.

Massively proud of Team CBS yesterday. There was a festival day in our village with lots of things going on; stalls, inflatables, classic cars, live music, tower tours etc and it was free entry. It takes a lot of volunteers to put on something like that, and I was proud to see every member of our current team was there volunteering. There was Maryna and her daughter Polina helping Bev in the kitchen with refreshments. Hazel and her husband Matt volunteered to show their classic cars. Mark was leading the tower tours with help from Marcus, and Richard and myself were managing the sound system.

Supporting our community is a core value in our business: it’s at the heart of what we do. It’s important to us to give back. We didn’t organise to all be there. Everyone individually decided to volunteer and support the event, which shows our values and priorities are aligned. It must be why we make such a great team!

So proud. 🥰

UPDATE - Our new telephone systems have finished porting over and we are now back up and running. Thank you for your patience.

Important notice - we are upgrading our telephone systems today as part of our communication development plan. Whilst our telephones port from the old system to the new, our lines will be unavailable. We anticipate lines being down from 10:30am to 2:30pm at the maximum, but realistically we hope to be up and running again by 11:30am.

Mark has had to hit the ground running this last week, with his first task being to make sure our Cyber Essentials Certification is renewed without any issues. Mark has worked hard to gather data about our systems and security to submit the renewal. Great news today - we passed, and we're cyber certified for another year. Another step completed showing our commitment to protecting our clients and employees data. Great work Mark.

An interesting story that I came across today. I have no way to confirm if it’s true that HMRC keep a log of every time a number is changed in their software, but it wouldn’t surprise me. Another good reason to use paid for accounting programmes and an accountant.
