Just a reminder your spot isn’t secure until a deposit is paid
I’ve refrained from taking deposits the whole time I’ve been an instructor but now the time has come…
From now on any new pupils will need to pay for their lesson upfront which will be non refundable to secure their spot (this will cover the cost of your first lesson). If I don’t hear back from you within a day I’ll offer your space to someone else
Also if you cancel a lesson I will ask for payment before your next lesson
Thanks
That’s it I’m off now, to celebrate my boys first birthday tomorrow
Also have the busiest weekend so messages will be replied to on Monday evening!
Enjoy your bank holiday 🥳🎉
I’ve had people shake their heads, wave their hands/ arms around lately all because of my pupils pulling up on the right side of the road (carefully). Yes it looks weird but my pupils need to practice! We aren’t doing it to be a pain, maybe familiarise yourself with what instructors have to teach 🤦♀️🫡
Thank you to those who recommend me, it doesn’t go unnoticed 🫶
There are no tests available at the minute at all, I’ve not seen that for a while.
Please only take a test if you’re 100% ready. You are wasting a slot for people who are ready 🙏🙏
Running a business is extremely hard.
What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid back people.
People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.
People expect you to be available 24/7 and at the drop of a hat because “you work for yourself so you can make time” unfortunately this is not the case most of the time.
Friends and family will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.
You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.
Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend... it’s one of the hardest things you will try and balance ever.
There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.
Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!
Also another reminder, we don’t get paid if we take holiday & we don’t get paid if we are sick. So please keep this in mind when you are messing us around. I’ve got bills to pay & I’ve got a child to feed.
I just want to say thank you to those pupils that turn up with no fuss, who are determined to pass and listen to me weekly on their lessons.
👏👏👏
From this moment on I’ll only be able to take pupils on who are more flexible due to childcare & to stop these gaps in the day happening. (If you’ve filled out my form and you don’t hear back from me, this is why) 😃
Please do a test when you’re ready.

Is your test coming up? Are you ready for your test? Do you meet the standards required by the DVSA?
What sad sad news today!
My thoughts are with the family, friends & people who were there to witness that accident today.
It definetly hits home more when it’s someone you used to teach 😢
2 years qualified today, time has flown by & hopefully many more years as an ADI 🌸
Just to let all my new pupils in the new year know that I’m not available for lessons on the 30th January as I have a full day of training , please message to re-arrange your lesson for that week 🙂
“But I think I can pass the test”
The practical test is the MINIMUM standard. Evidence show that many, especially younger drivers, pick up practical skills quickly. But it takes time to develop the experience & situational based skills. These cannot be hurried.
As this chart (borrowed from the WHO via The Instructor Podcast post) shows how Road Injury is THE biggest killer in those under 30.
So,
Parents:
Please find a good instructor that will work with you to achieve LIFE LONG, not Test based, success.
Learners:
Be engaged in your lessons and own your mistakes. We aren’t looking for ‘perfect’, but ‘good enough’ is essential!
Talk to your instructor about ways to maximise your experience and skills.
Driving instructors:
If they aren’t ready, don’t take them!
We support you making that incredibly hard call and potentially saving lives in the future.
“I want them to have a go, they might be lucky and pass”
EXACTLY, that is our biggest worry. Be ready and unlucky - that’s annoying and we can retake it. But NOT ready and lucky - scraping a MINIMUM standard, that could be life changing in the wrong way.
Yes, test waiting lists are challenging
Yes, it is expensive to develop safe driving skills
Yes, you might pass!
However - Instructors are there to help you navigate this minefield. Find a good one and work with them towards success for life.
If it’s the Theory that is causing issues - Then you know who to call!

It might sound obvious, but don’t take your driving test until you’re ready. Lots of people fail the driving test just because they haven’t taken enough lessons to pass. There’s no point in taking the driving test until your driving instructor says you’re ready. You’re likely to waste your time and money if you take it too soon.
Only 21% of driving tests result in a first time pass because people just aren’t ready.
Don’t worry if you think you should be making faster progress. On average it takes people 45 hours of driving lessons and 22 hours of practice with relatives or friends to learn to drive
