Sweeney’s Scale Masterworks

Quite few weeks but progress has been good on the client build of the 1/200 HMS Hood, decks all laid and stained for a more realistic look, alot of alot of bridges and lookouts built, most of the guns barrels have been upgraded to turned metal parts and alot of multimedia details have been laid ready for painting, one of the funnels have been assembled and man what a astonishing amount of detail! Stilla fair way to go but it's getting there!

Well taking a break from the client build, and going back to doing something with 4 wheels! 😮‍💨👌🤣 just completed is the uber rare kit that I've never seen built, you see allt of these but not in the refreshing bozian livery! Another fine WRC kit from tamiya and certainly stands out from the usual 206 liverys, just a bare out the box build on this one, the hood has kept me busy with enough detail! Man I missed building rally cars! hope you all enjoy!

So it's been a bit quite recently, not had much time to get much builds done since I've been slowly chipping away at My first customer build! Here's some progress of this behemoth of a multimedia kit!, a 1/200 scale of HMS Hood. This kit is staggering being over a meter long! With a insane amount of detail and etch! But here's the current progress of the clients build!

Time to make a start on the competition build off from Kent Models! A castrol themed accord garson wagon!

Well that’s a wrap! Old school classic Tamiya Quattro rally, with some scratch building and attention to detail even a basic kit can look special! Very enjoyable build made to look the part with some added details nice kit to add to the collection of rally legends 🤙

Colour sorted for the road version of the es**rt, tamiyas Awsome flip paint such a fitting colour for a fitting motor! Next is to order the UKSP engine kit for this! 🤙

We’ll finally got around to sorting out some photos of 2023’s annual 24 hour build event. My choice was D.Modelkits Awsome new release of the Mobil 1 sierra Cosworth, and tamiyas classic repsol Cosworth and focus RS WRC. Unfortunately I didn’t do a hat trick this year and get them completed due to major decal issues of the es**rt be focus (always check 30 year old decals before a build event! 😂) but worked with what I had and these are the end results! Completed in combined time of 30 hours with a few added details here they are, 2023’s ‘fordzathon’ hope you enjoy the builds! And a congratulations to D.modelkits on there first kit release, a brilliantly detailed kit of a Awsome car, have the Q oils one to do which I’ll be making a special build of including a engine 👀 and might have to buy a 3rd to do a road sapphire version 🤙

More progress on 2023’s first build 👌 clear laid and chassis mostly finished off now, brilliant kit in my opinion!

Well here’s to finishing off 2022 and onto 2023 with 3 current builds on the go, tamiyas brilliant HKS r32, revells troublesome but Awsome 560SEC and a kit my partner got for me for Christmas the 1/12 Tamiya 240ZG street custom. it’s been a brilliant year of builds and with the 2023 annual 24 hour build fast approaching it’s time to get these 3 whipped up and get a kit chosen for the 3rd year on the go for me! Happy new years to all my fellow followers and hope 2023 brings some brilliant builds to all of you!

And there’s another odd kit you rarely see built off the Bench. Tamiyas Alfa GTO, finished in the most fitting colour for a Alfa, Italian red. Bit gutted to find out this kit doesn’t sport the sweet ‘drivers engine’ Alfa V6, but tops out with the 16v twinspark engine…nether the less still pretty awsome results to another fine kit from Tamiya. One of my guilty pleasure cars with all its sleek coupe lines and intriguing twin lamp headlights which are one unit under the bonnet! If you can get one of these rare kits there worth the build! 👌

Lasted build of the bench and it’s a new sparkly release from Tamiya! The GR86! Finished in Tamiya pearl white which was a fitting colour for this car, pearl black finish on the wheels to match a absolute joy to put together producing a amazing result, couple personal modifications to enhance the GR trim like coloured callipers, manifolds and headlight assembly, absolute joy to sit in the cabinet, also got the older variant on the bench which I will finish soon! Will look into getting the Subaru variant quite possibly!

New off the bench completed, after a whole month the tamiyas jäger alfa is now compete 🤙 such a iconic kit built to a awsome standard. Competed using tamiyas sprays and original kit decals which were a pain to work with being so old! Full Carbon fibre stencilled put from the studio 27 sheet, extra wiring detail in the cockpit, one of my favorite kits from when I was young, now to get the Martini, bosch and alfa course kits done in the stash to sit along side thos dtm legend!

Busy busy busy!! Back on the workbench after a few weeks of manic work schedules and car shows! But it’s not all been quiet! Recently commissioned a 1/24 scale replica of my own 1:1 corrado G60 using revels own rare kit and a whole heap of scratch building! Also on the bench is a revell mk1 perelli and mk2 GTI in the infamous oak green, paints brilliantly supplied by hiroboy from zeros custom mix or Beaudox red and oak green mixes for my corrado and mk2!

So next up on the bench is something special. My first stab at a bike kit and not only that a gift I hope to finish for farthers day, as my farther owns a GSKR thought I’d build his this as his gift! 🤙

After a few weeks the castrol NSX finally comes to a close, amazing kit to finally get out the stash to produce this amazing result. One of my favourite JGTC cars to sit next to the equally amazing Raybrig. Tamiya TS black TS pure white and zeros‘Mazda 787b’ green to complete the livery after half a tonne of masking! Hope you enjoy the end result, next build will be something special! 🤙

Well while the evo’s sat on the bench waiting for it’s clear to fully cure I believe it’s time to make a start on another build…after being sat in my stash for over a year the raybrig was quite lonely…so time to go green! Probably one of the most tedious masking jobs every for the 3 layer scheme it’s the turn of the castrol NSX, who knew that some leftover zero 787b green would be a perfect match for tamiyas park green! Wasn’t going to spend £9 on a can of use once! But here we are underway! More updates to follow during the build 🤙

Tommi’s evo’s now coming to a end, but we all love a nice ogress update! Most of the interior is now completed still need to add some extra details, unfortunately the window price has snapped in half down the side where the box got damaged! So ordered the civvie evo to replace the broken window for this kit. Yet again another Amazing kit put together from tamiya, very enjoyable curbside.! 🤙

Well progress update on tommi’s evo decals laid and clear has been applied now to wait for it to cure to crack on it’s the rest! 🤙

Next up on the bench is another legend to join the group A trio, Tommi’s lancer, body has now been coloured along with its 1st coat of clear ready for the decals, and a semi finished colourful underside! 🤣 while this one dries I might actually crack on with a group build event kit that I’m yet to start!

Latest of the bench is tamiya’s 1/24 99’ WRC Impreza driven by the rally legend himself Colin McRae. One of the special builds to myself being a rally legend of my childhood. results from this build have been enjoyed throughly and another added to the 90’s group A era
