Formally Root Pocklington, keep up to date with Jodie and sue!
Hello ladies!
We would like to invite you to join us for drinks and nibbles celebrating International Womens week, meet our Newly formed Pocklington womens rugby team & spend a bit of time telling us about yourselves.
Bar open from 8pm Rugby club.
Who else feels like it’s time to come out of hibernation?
To be honest we haven’t done anything behind the scenes.
Jodie’s maternity leave is coming to a close. With this in mind we are hoping to put a plan in place. In the mean time DM us for any plants needs or requests!
We are currently scouting out places to run a repotting workshop, so hit us up with suggestions!

Better late than never!
One of our wonderful clients sent us this photo a couple of weeks ago! Her fabulous bird of paradise flowered IN DECEMBER 👌
Now that’s impressive!
If your looking for the perfect plant for your home or business drops us a message. We can offer a free in person or virtual consultation.
Our books will be back open in the new year!
We popped along to today to repot and move a rather large plant that was taking over!
We can’t believe how much it’s grown 😱
P.s if you haven’t already, you need to try the brownies.
THEY.ARE.TO.DIE.FOR 🤤
Poinsettia
Love them or hate them, these guys aren’t just for Christmas!
If you can find a UK based grower I highly recommended you purchase these over imported Poinsettia.
However, if you decided to pick up a bargain £5 plant from your local supermarket, here’s how to look after them.
These plants originate from Mexico and they HATE the cold. They dislike drafts and need to be kept above 13c to prevent shock.
Make sure you keep them damp, not soaking wet and they love HIGH humidity. Bright but indirect light is most suitable.
And lastly always take the plastic off as soon as you get them home!

We have been a little quite!
We made the decision to take a little break from social media for a while, recharge and in the new year focus on our new brand and plans for the new business!
😴 Dormancy 😴
Just like all living things sometimes our plants need a little bit of down time.
A number of varieties including (but not limited to) Caladiums and oxalis can become dormant in winter months or for the likes of caladiums when consistent temperatures drop below 20c.
You might be nursing a pot of dirt for a few months but fear not, they will grow back (hopefully)!
If your caladium or oxalis is looking a little worse for wear we highly recommend prepping them for winter.
🪴 Remove all leaves and stems visible above the surface. Chop them back to soil level!
🪴 You then have a couple of options:
-Remove the bulb/tuber/corm from the soil, give it a wash. Allow to dry for a day or two, then store in a dark dry cool place. Brown paper bags are great for this!
- Or you can simply leave within the soil. Store the pot in a dark dry cool place and do not water.
🪴 Once spring rolls around again, simply repot your plant into fresh soil. keep in a warm draft free area and watch it grow 🌸

Hello winter 🥶
Just like every other living thing on this plant, plants get sad in the winter months 😔
Daylight hours are shorter, photosynthesis decreases and all those vital nutrients your plant has stored over the summer months get used up.
With this in mind it’s imperative that your plants have a little shuffle 💃 and you get them as close to a light source as possible or purchase a grow light.
Cut back on watering and avoid feeding over the winter months to prevent root burn and root rot.
Come spring we will be traveling around teaching our spring repotting and care classes, coming to a town near you!
If you have any questions about wintering your plants, drop us a DM or a note below 👇 👇 👇

We headed to O’Briens today to pick up some plants for a commercial install at a local estate on Monday and I couldn’t resist picking up this amazing philodendron Gloriosum.

PET FRIENDLY PLANTS
Something we get asked a lot is what plants are safe if your pet sometimes has a little munch 😂
We have a good selection in store; calatheas, Areca palm, Chinese money plant, sedum burrito, maranta, echiveria and ponytail palm are ALL non toxic.
Posted • Make sure you have changed your plant care routine for winter.
Watering can be a funny thing at this time of year, we recommend watering less….. but central heating can cause plants to dry out quicker! So make sure you check them on the regular.
