I highly recommend growing salad leaves in pots - you can keep harvesting just enough fresh leaves each day and with a ring of copper tape around the top it makes the leaves undesirable to slugs & snails!

Migraines are something that people often suffer silently, and struggle on for years with 'managing or reducing the impact' of them.
What about handling them completely with Nutrition? We are not at the mercy of our ancestral or even our past health.

Natural Fertility Awareness
I feel like fertility awareness is something that should be shared with women from an early age, I think that the fact that the choices about fertility and how to manage it are taken away from women at an early age instead. When I was 13 at high school one of my friends was given the pill to help with her acne, she was told that if she fell pregnant whilst taking it the baby would be disabled - she was also 13, no choices given, no awareness raised, just a warning. It wouldn't have occurred to me at 13 to be having s*x, however this made me think that I definitely never wanted to take a pill that would risk making a baby I created disabled.
At such a young age when most likely your cycles have only just started the important information to tell a girl/young woman would be what is happening in your body cycle to cycle - and that the hormones being created are most likely making your skin respond in ways you'd rather it didn't...However with some guidance around what to eat in each phase of your cycle you can support your body to not suffer with acne. Instead my friend was put on a drug that supressed her bodies natural function of ovulation when it had only just begun and she wasn't told anything about the future side effects. I find this incredibly sad and I know that 25 years later its still happening on a daily basis and that the education isn't in place.
Do you know you have a choice about your contraceptive options? Do you look at the potential side effects of any drugs you are prescribed? Fertility awareness is side effect free and also leaves you with the option of avoiding or attempting to achieve pregnancy each cycle, unlike any hormonal based contraceptive - I think thats pretty cool!
As a Nutritionist - it's easy to see all symptoms through a Nutrition lens.
Often though, as with most things in life, health issues are usually multifactorial and a period of stress is one of the most common times I observe clients struggle with ailments of various kinds.
Undoubtably, I've found over the years that Nutrition is an amazing and useful support on a physical, mental and emotional level.
One of the reasons for that, is the fact that good Nutrition helps reduce the internal stress or inflammation that may be present and helps us deal with the external stress better.
My eczema started when I left home, life changes can be a stress of themselves. Making the changes I did at the time were an invaluable part of the healing process.

This week's Bridge to Wellbeing meeting we had two great talks one on Bach Flower Remedies from Christine Chalklin and Reflexology from Joanna Davies.
Last month we had talks on Astrology and 'What to Eat for Breakfast' with samples.
Next month our Bridge to Wellbeing speakers are Linda Thornton and Karen Stratton with talks on How to Breathe Well and Using Crystals for Wellbeing.
We meet every second Tuesday of the month at The Kyte Hotel, Darrington between 10am and midday. The meeting is free of charge and we meet in the spacious room adjacent to the restaurant. Beverages are available to buy and the Hotel also do light lunches if you would like to make an outing of it. Some of us have stayed for lunch each month and the service and food have been great.

Our holidays whilst I grew up were camping expeditions to all parts of the UK. Age 13/14 we took a break in the Peak District on a relatively primitive campsite near Hartington, Staffordshire.
Typically for that August when there are often meteor showers we were fortunate enough to be in the middle of nowhere with no light pollution.
One beautiful clear night we were all watching out for falling stars and waiting to make a wish.
So often when there are showers of meteors โ we all see a different star โ I saw mine and then made my wish, which to my own surprise was โto always be healthyโ.
Looking back now I am partly astonished that health would be a focus so young but knowing me now perhaps it is not so surprising.
Having been inspired to use Nutrition and alternative medicine as a tool for healing since my later teen years and then commenced studying complementary practice since my twenties, becoming a practitioner in my early thirties โ perhaps it is not such a strange wish.
I have always taken responsibility for my own health, and enjoy so much sharing information that supports others in making themselves feel better and stay well and full of energy in the shape they want to be in.

The diet industry offering encompasses books, DVDs, magazines, slimming clubs, supplements, special foods and even medication in the form of weight loss pills.
But and this is a big But, a lot of it is not bespoke or tailored to your needs.
Although Gym memberships offer you personalisation โ research shows Nutrition alone brings weight loss of nearly four times more than exercise alone.
Healthy weight loss is between 1-2lbs or 0.5-1kg per week. Most diets proclaim a greater loss, faster. Then when they are left behind the return is to square one.
