Few more from this week that I remembered to pictures of, volvo for full service and inspection , a bmw 3 series with engine management light on which was found to be caused by a cracked inlet manifold as shown by using the smoke tester , insignia in for rear brakempads and discs, the transit with the manky fuel filter , focus for new auxiliary belt

YUCKY!!!!!

interesting one earlier this week, customer called with a 2014 transit that was reported to have been getting slower and slower and slower to the point it wasn't driveable... so we attended and started asking the usual questions starting with when was it last serviced to be told it was done less than a year ago by another garage

We decided to have a look through the live data on the diagnostics to very quickly notice that fuel rail pressure was virtually non existent so decided it would be wise to start with removing the fuel filter to check for any issues and my God did we find issues 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈

Not only did we find an disgustingly dirty filter that clearly hadn't been changed at its last service we also found severely contaminated fuel and a filter that was blocked solid by bacterial growth known to us as "diesel bug"

Still completely stumped as to how the van even started her alone ran!

I am frequently asked how often a service should be done and my answer is always the same... I Carry out ALL my own services at 5k mile Intervals to make sure my equipment is running at optimal Performance, yes it costs more than waiting until 10-15k miles schedules but it's a dam site cheaper than a replacement engine or fuel pump that's damaged by poor fuel or poor oil!

MADNESS!!!!.......AS ALWAYS

been a while since we last put some pics up as things have been so busy and with so much going on behind the scenes it's hard to remember to take pics of the jobs we get up to!

Had a nice mix lately from things like this Volvo FMX water pump housing gasket failing on one of our regular commercial customers vehicle to bottom arm bushes failing on a little vw tiguan and then the main coolant pipes failing afyer chaffing on another fitting on this renault traffic which unfortunately meant the whoooole front end had to be stripped off to gain access and at the same time noticed that uneven wear on the auxiliary belt tensioner and idler had literally sliced the belt clean in half ! Then came the transit with an abs fault which had magically gained an abs fault due to completely wrong wheel speed pickup being fitted yet the customer hadn't had any work done lately?! 🫣

Bmws with snapped exhausts, transits with failed anti vibration crank pulleys, vivaro with failed anti vibration crank pulley and many many caravan habitation and chassis services 😎

MEET "THE BEAST" 😈

After a long wait we can finally reveal the new fully equipped mobile workshop aka "The Beast"

She is bigger and badder and louder than her sister and equipped with more durable and versatile tooling to make sure we can complete what ever job we are attending!

There's still quite a few jobs to do on her such ad wiring additional lighting and awaiting on the styling/lighting bars to finish being fabricated to give her that truly special standout appearance that we are known for but for the time being the work load demand means she needs to get the wheels turning and earning 💪😎

Make sure you give us a wave when you see us out and about !!!

Can YOU do it .....

There is nothing more satisfying than getting that phone call to say that another mechanic has been out to a vehicle and they have failed to complete a repair so would we be able to attend and get it sorted,

This lovely transporter is the perfect example, apparently previous mechanic couldn't remove damaged driveshaft as it was seized into the hub assembly... short time later and the repair was completed and finished with the end result being a very happy customer and happy technician 💪

Respect to the previous mechanic for having a go and knowing his limit and when to stop rather than continuing and causing a complete dogs dinner of the job like quite a few of these "pop up mechanics" that seem to be appearing and then rapidly disappearing lately !

Please be careful who you select to carry out your repairs and as always make sure your repairer is insured and infact qualified to do his/her job and if they tell you can come out today tomorrow be cautious as there is a probably a very good reason why they can get to you so quickly and that's not usually a good reason!

We are as busy as ever and doing our absolute best to get all enquiries booked in and sorted as soon as physically possible but there is and always has been a lead time to bookings so please dont get disgruntled when we can't get to you as of yesterday!!

Couple of nice little jobs today starting off with a full set of front and rear pads and discs for a lovely chap and then had We MoT - MoT collection + delivery service 's new works vehicle in for an updated body kit conversion and headlight re-wire along with replacing inner tie rods and steering column universal joints due to wear before it goes in to SignSense for its livery 👌

Some of our recent jobs...

Gearbox replacement with new 3 piece clutch kit and dual mass flywheel as due course on a 2017 renault master

Tipper problems on this little cabstar diagnosed as failing motor - new motor assembly on order

Brake fluid replacement and air and cabin filter change on this lovely jaguar xf

Upper ball joints replaced on a iveco 72c17 due to excessive play found when we did a PMI

Heater matrix replacement on a volvo v60 after customer reported having very little heat coming through even when vehicle was fully up to temperature, tried flushing coolant system to no avail so bit the bullet and stripped dash to replace heat exchanger unit and on removal saw exactly how bad the unit was blocked 🫣😅

We haven't taken many pics of jobs lately as we've been so busy 😅

Nothing like an early uplifting start to the day....

We got called out by the guys at South West Crane Hire yesterday to one of their cranes that wouldn't start so gave it a quick jump start to keep them working and then returned early this morning before the jobsite opened to change a set of rather large batteries and check no further issues present 👍

Was interesting having a chat with Scott the operator about his specialist vehicle and his job 👌

MoT time? But have no time??

Did you know that we can offer an MoT collection and delivery service? You tell us when and where your car needs to be collected from and we can send out one of our fully trade insured members of staff to pick up your car even if its not currently taxed or insured or mot has already expired and take it for test and then deliver it back to you so you never need to get out your seat!

We also offer a pre MoT service to make sure your car flies through its test with no nasty surprises as any required work can be done before test day! if that's not for you then don't stress as should your car fail its test we will happily quote for any repairs required to make sure you have as little downtime as possible!!

Let us take away what can sometimes be a stressful experience especially with many MoT stations taking liberties with its customers and being pushy to get unnecessary repairs , we have used the same professional reliable and honest test station for the last few years and have a great working relationship with them so you can be sure your in good hands 👌

Car Not Starting Only Clicking??? Lights Not Working Properly???

We have been inundated with non start problems these last couple of weeks mainly caused by this cold weather snap causing chaos with batteries and charging systems, did you know your battery has a life span? Did you know that just because your battery shows 12volts doesn't mean that its OK?

Your battery should have its health state periodically checked to make sure its not going to leave you sitting outside in the cold and the same goes for the charging system fitted to your vehicle both of which we can help you with and remember just because your dash lights are working doesn't mean your batteries any good 🙈

We've also seen quite a few "brakes being stuck on issues" which appears to be being caused by people driving through deeps puddles and then this cold weather freezing brake cables up and causing handbrake mechanisms to become stuck on but then releasing naturally once warmed up, there is a very high risk of damaging your brake system if trying to forcibly drive away with brakes seized on resulting in damaged brake pads and discs and in some cases this is generating so much heat that it's cooking and destroying wheel bearings so pleeeeaaassseeee stop and think first and if unsure give us a call for help 👍

As always please take extra care in this weather as road are slippery and the last thing we want is to have to do your accident repairs !

Oh and just a side note... that stuff being thrown on the roads by the big yellow trucks... yup that's grit AKA salt.... salt that is corrosive to your car and also does a very good job of covering your lights and windscreens and number plates so make sure you are regularly cleaning your car or at least its lights!!!

I hope you have all had a fantastic Christmas and New year ! It's been an absolutely insane first week beek at work and we have been non stop quite literally!

We've seen a massive influx of call outs to non starts mostly caused by dead batteries from vehiclea sitting over the holiday so if you get stuck don't hesitate to give us a call amd we can get out to you asap to get you on the move again 👌👌

Another milestone is that we've just hit 1000 followers whoch is fantastic! We really couldn't be who we are today if it wasn't for all the fantastic customers you guys are so from the bottom of my heart thank you all !!!!

SO HERES OUR THOUGHTS...

Its been another amazing year for us and weve grown from strength to strength and encountered some real challenges that have taught us alot and met some amazing people along the way !!

Its that special time of year again where tools are thoroughly cleaned and packed away ready to smash out another year BUT there's a few things that have really bothered me this year and It's something that I really think needs addressing....

We may not be the cheapest around but we absolutely strive to be the best, we do everything as due course and refuse to cut corners so if a jobs worth doing it worth doing right the first time! It takes a long time to learn the skills of our trade and it costs alot of money in tooling and insurances not jusy to be able to drive ours and customers vehicles but also to cover us and yourself against any unfortunate incidents but there seems to be a massive influx of " homegrown " and " Google mechanics " who run around charging pennies to " fix or diagnose " customers issues which actually ends up in unnecessary or very poor and even dangerous work being carried out whoch we are then called in to rectify and to make it worse these cowboys have no motor trade or public liability insurance what so ever so when it all goes wrong YOU the customers are screwed 👎👎

So if your reading this please please take some friendly advice and make sure no matter who your engineer / technician is that they are FULLY insured to not only drive your car but also to carry out the work you are paying them for!! If they are licensed and insured then they like us will have absolutely NO issue showing you the relevant documents to prove!

I hope you all have some well deserved time off and get some quality family time over the festive period but don't forget to spare a thought for those who may not be so lucky !!

We will be back to the grind on Tuesday 2nd January and are already booking up rapidly so don't leave it too late to avoid dissapointment
