Amazing opportunity to get on the water. Borrow and share a wide range of watersports equipment for a month at a time!
We are a Christian social enterprise on a mission to help everyone get into the water in a way which doesn't cost the earth. We want to use borrowing and sharing to get as many people onto the water as possible. Borrow equipment from our community inventory, or from one of our generous sharers. If you have some equipment to share, easily list them on the site and let someone else enjoy!

🌟 Big News! 🌟
I'm thrilled (and a little daunted) to share that I've accepted a charity spot to run the London Marathon for YMCA Bournemouth! 🏃♂️✨ While I have previously ran half marathons, I have never run anywhere near the distance of a full one, so this will be a first for me.
YMCA Bournemouth genuinely does incredible work in our community, and I'm honored to run for such a meaningful cause.

Evening all, a few of us are hosting a beach brekkie and a paddle tomorrow at Hamworthy park 🏞️. Waffles, caffeine and a little paddle around. Conditions look pretty good. Meet for 10am, park in the car park and we will be up the path from there which leads to the beach. Specific location below. Anyone fancy it? We have been donated a large number of TWF wetsuits and accessories to sell off (Thanks again Branksome in the Community). Here's how to order.

Come and join the social SUP: Every Wednesday evening from April through to September we meet at Hamworthy Park and go for a paddle. You probably already know about the health benefits of Paddleboarding. It's a great way to get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors. From strengthening your core muscles to improving balance, Paddleboarding is an all-around great activity for both physical and mental health. It can also reduce stress, improve coordination, and open up new avenues of exploration. With the right equipment, it's so easy to get started with this sport. So if you have a spare board, why not share it with others on the Watersports Library website and give someone else the same opportunities to get started.
Watersports can be a great way to bring the entire family together and make some memories out on the water. From swimming, stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, and canoeing to swimming, fishing, and sailing, there is something for everyone. Here are some helpful websites to help you consider some of the safety elements of watersports.
Safety should be a priority. Before heading out, make sure everyone in the family is familiar with local laws and regulations regarding the activity. Poole Harbour, the harbour commissioners' website is full of helpful info about how it works (https://www.phc.co.uk/) Check out the RNLI safety page https://rnli.org/safety to help you think safely. It is also important to research the best locations for the watersport and understand the local tides and conditions. Check out https://www.dorset-tides.com/ to check the tides in your area and windy.com to check how strong the wind will be. Before beginning the activity, establish expectations and rules to keep everyone safe. Make sure all family members understand the risk involved and ensure they know the boundaries of the activity. It would be worth investing in a buoyancy aid for each member of the family and a waterproof phone case is so helpful to call in an emergency (plus you can take great photos through the case too)
Next, decide on a watersport that all members of the family can enjoy. Think about the skills and enthusiasm of all family members when considering activities, as some may be more suited for certain individuals.
Once the family is out on the water, take turns and encourage one another. With so many different types of watersports available, there's sure to be something unique and fun for every member of the family. Also, be sure to take lots of pictures – the memories are bound to last a lifetime.
Finally, be sure to practice good etiquette on the water. Respect other vessels, boats, and swimmers. There are lots of ways for families to enjoy watersports together and have some quality time on the water. With a little bit of planning and preparation, your family can have a great experience and create wonderful memories.

Have you seen our listing for a family board? This thing is a huge amount of fun and perfect for a family or a couple of friends to go out on at the same time. We love pieces of equipment that help people go together. If you have a tandem kayak, larger paddleboard, or anything else that might help more than one person experience the water, why don't you list it on the watersports library site? It's a great way to help people find things they wouldn't normally have access to.
