NOTE TO VOTE!!

Hello Poole
In today's elections ...
Who do you think deserves to get in?
Who do you hope gets in?

Just a quick reminder that your choice WON'T if you don't visit your polling station before 10pm tonight and mark the ballot paper against their name. It's really quick and easy.
Turnout today is very low so please come put and vote.

Please never think your favourite candidate will 'get in okay' without your help. Winning margins can be

"Please take the action to vote TODAY. This is your chance to get the right people in to fix this council and restore some pride".

Thanks a mil

Our Manifesto 02/05/2023

Dear residents, kindly take with a pinch of salt the unkind words about Poole Engage members shared by a few others in recent days. Instead, go to the source to find out what Poole Engage is about. Our manifesto is right here on the website https://pooleengage.org.uk/our-manifesto/ where it was published two months ago. You’ll find no party politics, nor unkind words. Just coverage of the biggest concerns we’ve heard from residents and will act on, given the chance. Thank you.

“Instead of seeing how much pain I can dish out towards those I disagree with, or who I believe have done me wrong, I seek to follow the golden rule and use my words and behaviour to create more of what the world needs … compassion and connection.”
― Aspen Baker, Author of Pro-Voice
“Once asked how we could be friends, given our disagreement on lots of things, Justice Scalia answered: 'I attack ideas. I don't attack people.”
― Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Former Associate Justice of the Supreme court of the USA

Our Manifesto Poole Engage – Manifesto for Poole – supporting the wider areas of Christchurch and Bournemouth. Real Engagement and Consultation “We must be part of the decisions that directly affect us. BCP consultation is just a tick-box exercise on matters already decided.” Residents will pay a huge £2...

Hello Poole

URGENT PLEASE NOTE!
Oil leak* into Poole Harbour

I do not think anyone will be swimming in the harbour, but anyone out on boats or perhaps diving please heed this warning from Police re a spill from BP Witch Farm, reported today
200 barrels, 8200k gallons leaked from a pipeline under Owers Bay in Poole Harbour.
My concern is that after the last spill in 2011 when the plant had to close for 2 months, leak detection from pipes was supposed to be a priority to ensure it could not happen again and any leak could be swiftly stopped, but with a loss on over 8k gallons this clearly did not happen.
I have raised this with the Leader of the Council and the CEO and PHC, l await a response.
*Advised 80% water 20% oil bit, called " reservoir fluid " but this not confirmed yet.
Please stay safe
Best always Cllr Judes

Hello, Poole

Unfortunately, BCP will be closing bridge to traffic tomorrow to carry more emergency work, this time to the nose bolts on the lifting leaves.
A traffic order will be in place to close it for vehicular traffic and pedestrian access between 9am and 4pm. One side (Hamworthy) of the bridge will be lifted to allow marine traffic to pass.
BCP tell Poole Engage "we appreciate this is not great timing with the closure of Twin Sails a couple of weeks ago, but assuming all goes well it should only be for one day"
We are promised that diversion signs and variable message signs will be in place to instruct traffic.
With respect we hope that this time the signs are actually correct and advise the right route, just be careful out there.

Financial sustainability to face future challenges at heart of proposed BCP Council budget for 2023/24 29/01/2023

BUDGET UPDATES - HOT OFF THE PRESS!

The budget proposal from BCP Council’s leadership for the next fiscal year 2023/24 has just been issued today.

We know Poole residents have taken a keen interest over the years in the Council's finances and projects, so we are sharing the release for your info here and now!

Immediately below is the introduction from the Leader of the Council Cllr Drew Mellor with a LINK https://democracy.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=587&MId=5528&Ver=4 to the report and full appendices.

It takes you to the webpage for the Council’s 'Corporate and Community Overview and Scrutiny Committee'. On this page, scroll down to Agenda item 7. 'Scrutiny of Finance Related Cabinet Reports' and tuck in! It's an insight, worth the time it takes to read!!

Our 'Poole Engage' representative Cllr Mohan Iyengar sits on this Scrutiny Committee and we’ll be very closely scrutinising and reviewing the full 'Budget' proposal at the 'Corporate & Community Overview and Scrutiny' meeting on Monday 6th Feb at 6pm Click Here https://democracy.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=587&MId=5528&Ver=4 so he will be ready to raise some in-depth challenging questions on behalf of all Poole residents.

Any thoughts or questions you’d like to feed in, or you can do so directly via [email protected]. or if you wish to make a direct representation formally to the committee, Mohan can help with that process if needed as above.

Of all years of budgets that we have had for BCP, we need a budget for 2023/24 that has gone through proper, transparent debate, which lands in the right place!

Report and full appendices are available to view here. https://democracy.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=587&MId=5528&Ver=4

Hi all, concerning, but judging by some of the soc media exchanges this week, the BCP Unity Alliance groups are taking a path that residents should worry about.
They voted on Tuesday to make the council - and hence public services - £1.2 million per year WORSE off over 20 years.
Just for the political show of opposing the Conservatives.
So party politics first; residents and services second.
Is this a guide to how they'll behave in the budget discussion next month?
However PE will put residents and services first, with party politics way behind.

Hello everyone,
It is with immense
personal sadness that l advise all BCP residents of the sad death of past Mayor of Poole 2003/04 and Creekmoor Hillbourne and Waterloo ward Cllr for 20 years, past Cllr Leslie Burden.
Les died peacefully at home on Thursday, his wife RoRo was with him when he passed.
I have known Les and RoRo his wife as close family friends for nearly 40 years and his loss is so very painful.
He worked so very hard for all his residents in Poole as a Poole Borough Cllrs 1999/2019 and was working in the community until the very last.
We were both elected on the same day in May 1999, joined 4 years later by our colleague past Cllr John Rampton in 2003.
I spent the day with RoRo yesterday and we chatted over the many lovely memories Les leaves us all.
Pls remember RoRo and Les's friends and family in your thoughts and prayers .
A life so well lived, a true "Man of Poole".
Best always Cllr Judes

Hello Poole

At Full Council tonite PEP put forward a successful proposal to get Community Infastructure Levy funding across all of Poole. Astonishingly Poole Town, who puts up with all the problems of the town centre developments was getting no CIL funding from developers when they build their blocks of flats etc, but all other wards in Poole do get CIL funding. Its plainly unfair that all other wards/communities have access to bid for community based needs from the CIL fund but not Poole Town residents! As they have no CIL funding. So this is to be reviewed urgently and put right asap. Thanks to Chris Bulteel and my hubby Dave Butt for raising this on behalf of all Poole Town residents.
