I appear to have accidentally bought another bike. I must be more careful 😂😂

Off to see the start of the GSR. Unfortunately not able to go on the run but really good to be back on the Bonnie for a short ride.
Was great to see so many familiar faces as well. Have a great day everyone and enjoy the ride out

13 years ago today I left the RAC and resumed MVS where I left off 5 years previously.
I’m still here, albeit only three mornings a week at the moment. Another few weeks should see normal service back.

Well that’s it. The silver transit is empty, sign writing is off and had a final little drive around the block.
Thanks Transit, you’ve been great over the last 13 years and 100 odd thousand miles.
See you around 😢

Clearing out my old van today I came across these tools.
I wonder how many know what they are for?

Nearly there
Just the split circuit charging and inverter to come out.

Van update. Firstly I’m really pleased with the new van, not least because the rear load compartment can’t be opened by any other means than the remote key. Dead locks will also be fitted very soon.
Anyway over the last few days I’ve built the bench, removed the shelving from the old van, I must have built it well 13 years ago as after all those years of use and abuse I eventually got it out, reshaped a little to fit the new van and fitted it in. Put a partition across the drivers side loading door, giving me a fixing point for new toolbox leaving enough room to access back of compressor which is fitted under the bench, also giving me a space to store jump leads, to hang waterproofs etc.
All working surfaces painted with very tough finish satin black.
Generally working out where everything will fit in.
Remove the old brown filing cabinet from old van, empty of various tools and parts, clean and respray black and fit under bench.
Tomorrow should see the majority finished ready to swap everything from old to new van next week.
Phew I’m knackered now lol

And so it begins…..

Having a forking great morning 😂
I only ever use Genuine seals, always fit nicely and no hassles

It’s a bitter sweet time for me. Further to recent events my poor old Transit has reached the end, the dreaded tin worm that I’ve been chasing for some years has finally got the better of the van.
It’s still MOTd until June but won’t pass another without major surgery so it’s nearly time for us to part company.
It’s been an amazing van, and having spent so much time in it over the last 13 years it’s almost my second home.
So some time in the next few weeks it’ll be the last day it’ll work so hard for me.
The sweet part is I’ve just picked up this black beauty as a replacement.
I’ve got a lot of work fitting it out over next few weeks but what a van!!
This will see me into retirement with a bit of luxury

My life may not be well organised but at least my split pins are now 😂😂

Having had some health problems the last couple of months and then the lowlife thief nicking a lot of kit plus business insurance going up by 80% I’ve come extremely close to giving up and retiring fully.

But I’ve decided to keep going doing smaller Jobs and helping the local biking community as I’ve always endeavoured to.

My point is you can still ask for my help with your bike
If I can help I will, if I can’t I will always recommend someone that can help.

I look forward to helping you as much as possible especially with spring round the corner any many people getting their bikes back out soon.

Thanks for all of your custom and support during 2023
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

One of my favourite sayings is “buy cheap buy twice”
But stupidly I bought some cheap diesel glow plugs for my own car.
Within a couple of weeks three out of four had failed completely and the fourth completely melted it’s insulation causing the fuse to blow.
Bosch ones now fitted and all working as it should.
The moral is cheap is rarely cheap in the long run.

The very latest in motorcycle braking systems. Vented brake pads 😂

So I went to adjust a chain for a new customer.
this is what I found. Plus left front fork leg loose and not even in top yoke.
Head bearings so tight could hardly move bars
Clutch lever assembly in wrong position and fouling switch gear and cable frayed.
This is a two year old bike and not due for an MOT
Correct Maintenance is the order of the day! 😂

Not fully retiring but cutting my hours.

30/05/2023

Hi everyone.
I’m officially dropping my working hours in July.

From the beginning of July I’ll be available Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays.

I started MVS in 1985 and after a five year break whilst working as an RAC patrol I restarted in 2011.
Then having moved to Dorset in 2016 I had to start over.
So it’s time I slowed down a little.
I’ll still do my utmost to help everyone of course even if just advice until I can get there, so business as normal as far as that goes, just two less days a week to do the work. So as far as possible try and plan ahead.
Thanks to everyone for your support and custom over the last 38 years.
Hopefully see some of you soon.

A quick tune up early 90’s. XJS V12. 3 hours to do plug change 😂

The height of technology in the 90’s 😀
Things have changed a bit now.
