The feedback we have had so far has been 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 and includes good adhesion and beading and even in this heat, it has been easy to lay.

It's another blistering hot day across Bournemouth & Poole.

The Met Office has issued a red warning for heat with temperatures expected to climb to between 38C and 40C in some parts of the country.

Although there is no law for minimum or maximum working temperatures, extreme temperatures are a potential hazard.

Dehydration and heat stress are both risks for roofers at work in the summer heat, which can also impair concentration.

As your concentration falters in the heat, you could more easily cause an accident, while excessive sunlight can burn, blister and age your skin as well as increase your risk of skin cancer.

When working on roofs in hot weather make sure you follow these steps to stay safe:

🌡️ Reschedule work to cooler times of the day

⏰ Provide more frequent rest breaks and introduce shading to rest areas

😎 Provide sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30 or cover your skin with clothing

💧 Drink plenty of water, every 15-20 minutes if possible, avoiding excessive caffeine.

☁️ If possible, stick to shaded areas when working

👍 Encourage the removal of PPE when taking breaks to aid heat loss

🥵 Educate you co-workers about recognising the early symptoms of heat stress.
