We are delighted to announce that Luke passed his grade 4 drums with a high merit! Luke has made outstanding progress since his time with us at Upton Junior School. We would like to wish Luke all the very best when he moves up to secondary school in September 🙂
What a fantastic day we had on Wednesday with our Stormbreak festival. We spent the day focusing on our mental health, moving and having fun! As well as a sunny picnic all together, we took part in our first whole school Stormbreak and became rockstars for the afternoon accompanied by our fantastic band!

We would like to say a special well done to both Karl and Elliot. Both pupils were presented with the Music Star award by displaying outstanding levels of resilience, adaptability, and progress throughout the academic year.
Karl and Elliot have also recently passed their first piano grading, with Elliot also passing his grade 1 guitar!!!!!
We wish them both the very best when they go to secondary school in September.

We are incredibly excited to announce that Mrs. Rosie Baxter will be delivering singing lessons from September! Spaces are filling up fast. Please fill out a music application form from either our website or school office to book your child a place.
Mrs Rosie Baxter is an experienced and inspirational singing teacher with over 10+ years experience. After graduating from stage school, Rosie went on tour with a renowned jazz band across the UK, Europe, and Asia.
Rosie motivates her students to reach their goals, explore their talents and grow as confident performers. During lessons you will work on developing vocal range, control, and performance techniques.
Rosie is very excited to join the team at Upton Junior School.

A Stormbreak is a mentally healthy movement opportunity that focuses on one of the following mental health concepts: resilience, relationships, self-care, self-worth and hope and optimism.
Stormbreaks give our pupils and staff the opportunity to stop during the day and put mental health and well-being first.

A group of year 5 pupils from Upton Junior School attended a Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra concert, ‘Sea Stories’, at the Lighthouse, Poole. Pupils got to play alongside the orchestra, performing various vocal melodies, Makaton signs, and percussive rhythms. Great fun was had throughout!
A big well done to everyone involved and we look forward to repeating this trip next year!

We are incredibly excited to announce the arrival of two new peripatetic music teachers. Mr. Mark Potter will offer lessons on electric guitar, electric bass guitar, and Ukulele, while Mrs. Rosie Baxter will be delivering singing lessons!
Both Mr Mark Potter and Mrs Baxter are set to begin teaching on Monday. They both have spaces available, though they are filling up fast. Please fill out a music application form from either our website or school office to book your child a place.
Mr Mark Potter has been teaching guitar professionally for nearly fourteen years, and has industry experience in both live performance and studio session work.
Since graduating from Glamorgan University, Mark has built up a successful track record of helping students reach their musical goals. Lessons are tailored to help each student gain confidence and build technical proficiency on their instrument.
Mark is looking forward to sharing his experience and expertise with students at Upton Junior School.
