Statement in full:

“The Russian invasion of Ukraine is a reminder to us all how precious our freedoms are, and our thoughts and prayers continue for the people of Ukraine who are caught up in this conflict. We continue to pray for a swift and peaceful end to the conflict and that the values of freedom and justice will prevail.

“I am so proud of the unity and strength of our YMCA European and global movement, who have responded so quickly to help those caught up in the conflict. In Ukraine itself, our YMCAs continue to offer hope and sanctuary, whilst neighbouring countries like the Czech Republic, Moldova, Romania and Slovakia have mobilised support for those fleeing Ukraine. YMCAs across England and Wales will do everything they can to support and resource our colleagues during these dark times.”

Today marks the day that YMCA Port Talbot went up at the front of the Plaza redevelopment for the first time. It is taking shape brilliantly and the plans are coming together nicely. Congratulations to our Patron Sir Anthony Hopkins on winning his second Oscar last night as Best Actor in The Father. Well deserved and a brilliant performance.

It will be great to see this back in the town🙂

We are looking forward to welcoming you back to a COVID Safe Port Talbot Market this Thursday 29th April!

We are in regular contact with Neath Port Talbot Council and the advice received is that outdoor markets can proceed.

We have implemented a range of COVID safety measures, including amending the layouts to create a one way system with more circulation space and providing handwash stations.
We also need your help to maintain a safe environment for all our customers, traders and staff by following the points below:
• do not attend If you or a member of your household: are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19; are awaiting the results of a Covid test; or if you have been told to isolate by NHS track and trace;
• practicing social distancing – if you do have to queue please be aware of others, space restrictions and maintain a 2m distance at all times;
• using one of the hand sanitising stations on entering and exiting the market;
• observing the one way system in operation and please keep moving (this will be signposted);
• using contactless payments wherever possible;
• pre-ordering goods wherever possible;
• not handling produce until after purchase;
• whilst it is not compulsory outdoors, we are now asking that you consider wearing a facemask when visiting the market if you are able to do so;
And
• to aid with social distancing please attend the market with no more than one other person from your household.
EVEN IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED ONE OR BOTH OF YOUR VACCINE JABS PLEASE STILL FOLLOW ALL OF THE ABOVE GUIDANCE.

A very big Congratulations to our Patron Sir Anthony Hopkins on his latest Bafta award yesterday. Well done Sir Anthony and the oldest winner at 83 years young
