Our amazing live-in carer Cecelia and her colleague Sarah have been dedicated blood donors for years, continuing to give during their breaks whenever they can.
Cecelia is pictured here making her 39th donation—an incredible achievement! Knowing her selfless act is saving lives is truly rewarding. Blood donations are a precious gift, helping those in emergencies or with ongoing medical needs.
We’re so proud to have such noble carers within the Helping Hands team!
The 6 Cs of care were introduced in December 2017 as a central part of the NHS ‘Compassion in Practise’ Initiative. At Helping Hands, the 6s are at the core of everything we do.
These values guide our carers in providing the highest standard of care, ensuring your loved ones are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. Want to learn more about how the 6 Cs shape our approach to home care?

A carer is a wonderful source of companionship and emotional support. Depending on your care needs, a carer can be arranged to pop in as needed or you can benefit from a dedicated carer who lives with you in your home, offering a helping hand at a moment’s notice.
Whether you need companionship or clinical care in the comfort and safety of your own home, Helping Hands will create a care plan to suit your needs. As a regulated care provider, creating the care plan is more than just listing the things to do. We must make sure that we consider people's capacity and ability to consent and do everything reasonably practicable to make sure that people who use the service receive person-centred care and treatment that is appropriate, meets their needs and reflects their personal preferences, whatever they might be.

Helping Hands customer Michael has been enjoying the warmer weather and discovering new paths during walks in his local area. Because getting out and about is one of the things Michael enjoys, his carer Levi joined him on one of his walks and the pair did some train spotting from the bridge. It was an eventful walk, as they also rescued a field mouse and returned it to its rightful home!
We’re thrilled to have been supporting Michael since March 2024 with companionship visits and tea calls – and helping him make the most of the sunshine through the summer months!

Mitchell recently returned to the gym with the support of his carer Paulina, with whom he has formed a strong bond. He’d not been swimming since pre-covid times and was isolated at home in between carer visits. Paulina has encouraged Mitchell to participate in a range of activities which has left him feeling more confident and happy.
With support from his carers working collaboratively, Mitchell’s fitness and strength has improved - and he hopes to get fit and well enough to visit his dad in Spain later this year!
We love seeing the progress and thank Mitchell for sharing his fantastic story!

Our customer Peggy had the Perfect Day out when she attended her granddaughter’s wedding in May this year. Carer Amy made sure that Peggy had the most fantastic time and got her a front row seat at the ceremony, followed by enjoying the evening disco in her wheelchair with support from her son! Peggy was overjoyed that she didn’t miss out on such a huge family celebration!
Peggy has been supported by Helping Hands for over a year, with hourly visiting support twice a day, and assisting with respite care when the family go away on holidays. Peggy was thrilled that her carer Amy, working with the branch and the family, made it possible for her to enjoy this beautiful occasion!

"I felt very honoured to attend the garden party at Inspired Villages, Millfield Green, alongside the special guest, John Torode. It was a privilege to support the team and share what Helping Hands can do to support customers in the village and surrounding areas.
Lisa, the regular carer, was lovely and welcoming, clearly beloved within the community. The event was a fantastic opportunity to share our dedication to helping customers maintain independence in their own homes. The village itself was stunning, the staff were wonderful, and the service was exceptional. It was a day to remember."
