We celebrate all forms of design here at Boss. So it is with sadness that the British design community has had to say farewell to the legendary industrial designer Sir Kenneth Grange, who recently died at the age of 95.

As Design Director of from 2003 to 2024, Sir Kenneth re-defined the archetypal task light, while his work over the past 70 years helped shape the domestic life and public realm of modern Britain; the way we cook, create, consume, groom and travel – in his own words, “the sculpture of the everyday object”.

Kenneth had no rigid ideology or manifesto. He was guided instead by a curiosity, generosity and wit that endeared him to all. His was a playful and sometimes eccentric take on modernism.

Sustainable Futures - Quality rather than quantity

As a business we are proud to be focused on longevity by using our skills to extend product life and taking care of our carbon footprint.

The focus in the industry needs to shift from the cost of purchase to the cost of ownership. This means much less cheap furniture that dates quickly, breaks easily and ends up in landfill because it can’t be reused or recycled.

Responsibly sourced, durable, renewable materials can help rectify this. Just as important is build quality. By investing in quality materials, skills, technology and good design, we can make chairs that last 20 or even 30 years, rather than five or 10.

“What we need to do is rather than have a 20th century model which is take out a lot of resources, sell a lot of products and make it bad quality so that they keep buying more and more and more, instead I think a good 21st century industry and a good 21st century business focuses on quality rather than quantity, on durability and longevity rather than the number of product sales.”

We are pleased to announce Boss Design will be an exhibitor at Design Mumbai 2024 from 6-9 November

is a contemporary international design event where we will be introducing Remi, our new tub chair with next-level comfort and sustainability.

was assigned with the layout and design of EY’s Diegem HQ in Belgium.

The interiors followed the same principles of the building’s architecture, blending organic, fluid forms to create an inviting and flexible spaces for both guests and employees.

A sculptural staircase takes center stage, set against a custom acoustic wall enveloping the core area on both levels.

In addition to bridging the floors, these elements generate informal spaces around: lounge and coffee areas that enhance the business center’s functionality and create a welcoming ‘foyer’ experience for users.
